I borrowed the new Wolverine movie from the library recently... and wanted to find out something before watching.

The friend I am staying with never seen X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Should they see that before we watch the new Wolverine film? Story wise... does the new film follow the X-Men Origins film?

No, there's no following storyline from Origins to this one, but there is from X-Men 3.
