Hmm it will be interesting to see how this translates to blu-ray. Thanks to the ABC I have viewed this film several times and loved it. I'm not sure if I would like it in blu-ray though. Sometimes for the older films I like that softness that a normal DVD brings to it. Blu-ray can be too crisp for me sometimes.

I for one can't wait. I hope they don't mess up the transfer.

If it is two good picture quality for its own good, I still have my DVD

For anyone wanting to add it to their wishlist, the UPC is 883929055609.
I've submitted a fairly barebones profile to Invelos' database.

I think it also depends a lot on your setup. On the newer generation tellies, the softness is exaggerated, and films can look terrible. On a CRT, I'll agree that it can work in the favour of some films.
I do tend to notice but overlook "obvious" sfx if it's a movie I enjoy. I remember Flash Gordon looking very different during the vortex scene the first time I watched it on a plasma screen.

I have two TV's in my house and both of them have distinctly different appearances, despite the fact that they both have blu-ray. These differences in the TV's often make my decision on which film I shall watch where. For example, my Samsung LCD, LED TV is flawless for HD. Blu-rays, especially animated films look amazing on this one, as well as HD TV. My other TV is a Panasonic Plasma screen. While it does have blu-ray, it has a sort of softness to it, a slight, almost graininess while still being perfect quality. So I can understand when you mean about it being different on each set up. King Kong is defiantly one I would like to watch on the Plasma  ;).

My #1 favorite movie!
 :yahoo:
I have owned it on VHS, Laserdisc and DVD. So why the heck not on Blu-ray?
(I even bought the colorized version on VHS just to see what it looked like  :-[ - Not an improvement)

The (quite bare) pre-release profile has been approved and should be available in the next update.

Now if only I could find a barcode for Eureka's upcoming Metropolis Blu-ray release.

It's essentially just poster art from the movie. It is very slightly different from the previous art in that the head goes *over* the banner.

Movie Goods

This would have made for cool cover art:

as would

I'd love to have this variant on my wall though (better spacing than the first image):

Yes! I like the cover they have, but it's been used before...

@W0m6at
I think Kong looks too ferocious in those  posters. I like the current cover.
