Yum
« on: July 24, 2010, 12:02:49 AM »
I just got back from a friend's house and she gave me a box of cookies. One kind she made is called "snickerdoodle" and all I can say is...YUM! I'm going to make a big mug of coffee and eat a bunch more for dinner!

Nope... not yet. It actually slipped my mind. I will have to get the makings for it the next time I go to the store!

Well I'm happy (and a bit proud) to say I've dropped over 50 pounds this year.  Unfortunately I still have over 100 to go.  :bag:

Congratulations Rick that is quite an accomplishment. Even a loss of just 5 or 10 pounds can greatly impact ones health.

The most important thing is to get 15 minutes or so of active exercise every day. A short walk or even lifting weights while you watch DVDs are all that is needed if done consistently.

When I had the classes for Diabetes, the nutritionist there said to stop aiming for the "Normal" BMI, because most people just can't get there unless they start devoting their entire life to maintaining their weight. She said to aim for a loss of about 5-10% per year. And even just that 5%-10% is already very beneficial.

Of course, 10% for some people would be quite a lot already... but the more you have to lose, the easier it is to actually lose it (well, according to the nutritionist anyway).
