URL TAG improvement?
« on: February 04, 2008, 08:56:39 PM »
Hi,

is it possible to modify the URL tag that it asks for the URL in a pop up dialigue like in other board softwares?

 :thanks:

I should as a fee for each mod request I get, I could quit my regular job  :yahoo:

URL Popup done !

As long as what you all ask is available as mods for this version of the forum I don't mind adding to the functionality but I will have to refuse anything that would require some programming from my part, I simply wouldn't have the time to do it.

I would also like you all to know that a new version of the forum software should be released later this year and there is no guarantee that all those mods will be/become available for that new version.  I am hoping however that the most popular mods will be part of the program.

Now, it may be something on my end, but maybe anyone else experienced this:

I am used to have the link-word already there, highlighting it and then add the link in the popup. However, this mod requests both parts of the link in popups; first the URL then the link-word. However, when adding the link-word again (despite having it marked in the post) I will end up with the word twice. If I enter nothing then the positioning is mixed up (the link path is also between the two url tags).

Yeah... I have the same problem Achim... I am used to just highlighting the word then adding the URL. It is something I am trying to get used to though.

There isn't much I can do about it.  It seems to have been overlooked by the person who programmed that mod. I guess it's one of the downside of not using the big softwares like vBulletin.

There's a workaround for it though.

Say you want to create a link with "Test" as the text. What I do is delete the T, highlight "est", click the icon, enter the URL, then enter only the "T" in the prompt. Seems to work fine.

Hi,

I've taken a look at the code and modified it slightly. It should now work in three ways:

If you haven't marked anything it asks for the URL and the text. If you enter text it will show it as URL text. If you don't it will show the URL directly.

If you mark text it will ask you only for the URL and take the selected text as URL text.

Please inform me if it doesn't work that way.
