DVD Profiler question
« on: January 27, 2009, 01:36:32 PM »
Hopefully someone here can help.

I choose refresh updated profile icon.
It shows there are 1500 DVD profiles that have changed.

Ok, the majority of changes are just going to be linked to the lastest program updates. I do not have the time (or the interest) to check through 1500 profiles to assess the changes.
I would like to allow all the changes to go through, but need to protect my cover images which are high res scans I have done myself.
Is there a way to automate the profile updates on all these titles together, without losing my images?  :stars:

Hope that made sense!
Rich

If you see your collection list, press CTRL-A, all profiles should be flagged. (make sure that no filter is enabled).

The you go to Collection->Flagged->Edit Locks. Ther you can lock your images or what else you want.

Caution: If you have fully locked profiles ("entire disc") then this lock will be disabled as soon as you choose to select a certain lock (e.g. images).

You trust the other users or the contribution reviewers more than me... I never make any update to a profile after the initial one, I'll do my updating myself in my database (except for the cover scan, if a better one appear in the voting process I take it).

For your answer, lock the cover image as Karsten had written.

For me, it's half'n'half. Either I care for the data, then I have checked and locked it. Or I don't care and then I don't care (e.g. Studios).

Either way I can accept profile updates without checking them.

Same for me. The data I care for I usually enter myself and lock. Data I don't care for is not locked and accepted as-is from the online

Same for me too. Of course, I also unlock when stuff becomes conform with my taste (to minimize the online collection upload), so I still need to go through one by one.

I have a back log of just below 800 right now. I will go through quickly, only allowing the easy changes which originate from the program changes or what I can assume to be correct without looking too closely. That way I can get it down to at least half in a decently short amount of time. The rest is then done slowly step by step. I'd rather have an unupdated(?...) profile than accepting 750+ blindly.
