Horror Brain's Blog - Top 10 Sickest Movies
« on: October 10, 2008, 06:20:21 PM »
Another poor list (at least in my oppinion).

List

My comment :

10. Irreversible : Not an horror movie and very weak compare to I Spit on your Grave
09. Men Behind The Sun : Not horror again and not that shocking
08. Salo: 120 Days of Sodom : Not horror. It's clear by their synopsis that they haven't watch it  ::)
07. Ichi The Killer : don't remember anything of this one, certainly not that disturbing
06. Murder-Set-Pieces : Not disturbing, just a serial killer movie with a lot of woman murder
05. Guinea Pig: Flower of Flesh and Blood : agree with this one, but only if we talk about the old vhs
04. Cannibal Holocaust : Not sick at all. The best movie ever made on the human nature

Never seen the last three and for what I've read August Underground’s Mordum is a pieces of crap; cheap and not impressive.

Since I don't want to look like only a critical guy. This is some movies that are more deserving of a place on this list

Waterpower
Animal Farm
Long Jeanne Silver
The Story of Joanna
Execution (a compilation of killing scene not listed on imdb)

You see disturbing is much more disturbing when it's actually real, not fake  ::)
Nothing Shocking, sick or disturbing when we know that it's only a movie...

I have to agree with their analysis of Irreversible.
I would rather rewatch ISOYG, I m in no hurry to rewatch Gaspar Noe's film.

I liked the plot synopsis for Waterpower.

I have seen Irreversible and agree that the first 20-30 minutes are a rather difficult watch. Supposedly this has been enhanced by the use of some pulsating low frequency sound intended to make the viewer feel physically sick in the stomach (cheap trick, actually, and mostly unnecessary ).

What I liked about the movie though was it's structure! As the story is told in reverse you begin with the horrible stuff and end up mostly on a positive note (which, on the other hand, makes the second half feel a little pointless) and you don't leave the experience overly exhausted. Would the story be told linear the viewer would feel rather emotionally drained.

I am, however, not in a hurry to rewatch it either...

I liked the plot synopsis for Waterpower.
And you are lucky with this one (not you personally, but the European peoples) since Alpha France had release it on a double features region 2 DVD with Femme De Sade. I've miss this one since the place where I ordinary bought my adult movie have it listed out of stock and they don't restock. The only other way for us (North American) to have it is to buy The Shaun Costello Collection released by Alpha Blue Archives, sure it's a good collection depending of your taste but 149,95 $US + the shipping (11,50) is a lot of money  :weep:
