I use Foxmarks for that, and it's already been updated, and actively developed.
I have previously tried Foxmarks and liked the idea as well. It seemed to only sort alphabetically though, while I prefer sorting links myself. Also it obviously requires me to keep my links loaded from the server and not in the Bookmarks menu of the browser, which is what I prefer somehow (agreeably without any logical explanation).

Unless I misunderstand you (which I wouldn't put past me!), the online part of it is just a sync file that represents what you have locally, that you can then change and reorder in the browser's Organize Bookmark page. They may be sorted alphabetically when you look at them online, but after sync them with your browser, the browser retains whatever ordering you decided upon.

FWIW Safe mode didn't open either.  :voodoo:

Odd. Safe mode should work, not matter what. Unless it is Google Desktop that is doing odd things to Firefox while it loads.

Anyway, glad to hear it works now!

Now it's time to see how good this new version is

So far, I love it. Especially the improvements in rendering speed, which is very apparent in Gmail and Google Reader.

Just stumbled across a neat feature. If you change the zoom level of a page (hold CTRL and use the scroll wheel on the mouse), it remembers the settings for the next time you visit the site!

I know the feeling. I preordered Spore yesterday (seconds after downloading the Creature Creator Trial), and I can't wait!! Well.. I've wanted that game since it was announced a few YEARS ago!

It comes out in September!

That Ctrl-Scroll is actually a built-in feature in Mac OS X! :P Therefore it's apparently a different key-combination within Firefox...

Thanks a lot! I was not aware of this function and may use it in the future (e.g. some sites use awfully small fonts).

Yeah, but I never liked the OSX feature. It made everything look washed out. I disabled it after the installation. The Ctrl+Mouseweel on the other hand I've been using for quite some time now.

Unfortunately the mousewheel direction has changed since 2.x. Now it's up to enlarge. I have to get used to it again.

Oh my. This is much faster! I had actually got so frustrated with www.empireonline.com I resorted to IE over the past week or so. Really bad performance, but now it's better than IE.

Glad to see PriceFriend from www.find-dvd.co.uk still works, and Speed Dial. Anyone else use that? My homepage is made-up of 9 thumbnails of my most used sites (this one is numero 3!). :P

Sadly, the new AVG 8 toolbar has failed and so has my recorder plug-in for RealPlayer. I used to really hate RealPlayer but the download manager is fantastic as it lets you save most videos you play on various pages, like YouTube especially. Hope that gets upgraded soon.

There's a missing option in the Poll.

I prefer FF 2.x

the new AVG 8 toolbar has failed

Actually, I'm waiting on Grisoft to give us the ability to disable that useless resource hog they call LinkScanner (which you can right now), without complaining all the time that something is turned off (which it does at the moment)

But I'm still amazed at how much faster Gmail is with FF3. Even with GTDinbox and Better Gmail 2 running concurrently.

I liked LinkScanner! I expected it to be a resource hog, but didn't notice any performance loss. That said, I did disable the actual toolbar because that was annoying.

I'm not liking the Smart Location Bar.  I'm used to typing www.blah... and hitting the down arrow to find my site.  This feature breaks that.  For example if I start typing www.avs, it doesn't offer me www.avsforum.com as the first option, but rather some thread buried down in their forums.  I can't believe it's not smart enough to offer up the root URL before suggesting other URLs further into the site.

It's also not cleared when you clear your browsing history.  Now my wife can see all the sites I've visited.

I'll give it a shot for a few more days, but it's not looking like something I'll get used to.  I want the old location bar back.

Beyond that, I'm really liking it so far.

And the clear data not clearing the location bar... actually it does. What it keeps showing you, is your bookmark (they probably have the Yellow star icon)
