The first new one since my update is the Brittany review of The Derby Stallion

Alright, I'll take over if everybody else is OK with it.

And in a sense, it's perfect timing, since I have my vacations next week, so I'll be able to familiarize myself with the system.

I'm here for an unknown number of days this week (I will be out of town for a while to work and I don't know yet wich day it will start, maybe I will be at home for a couple of days before august but I'm not sure yet). So if you have a question you can send me a PM.

I have a question for you all:

From what I gather, no wonder Jimmy got overwhelmed. A lot of the work was done manually. Including building each table line itself for each review, sorting alphabetically, etc.

I'm looking at making an excel sheet with the reviews in it and have a formula build the table lines.

The question I want to ask is two-fold - If you go to the new "Tests" I created, all the # movies are repeated there, but the movies starting with "The" are sorted at the end.

Do you mind that?

If it does bother you, any excel guru around here to tell me how to get excel to ignore article in front of movie names to have the sorting "correct" without too much crazy shenanigans?

I see it has already been settled... so I will just say Thanks for all the hard work Jimmy! It is appreciated. Though I guess I made your work even harder with requests to just change the links.  :bag:

And sorry...I never even seen excel so I can be of no help RossRoy. Not that it is a big deal... though it does look a little on the odd side. :P

I noticed that the "A"s in the current list include all movies that start with the articles "a" and "an".

I suspect that a macro could be written to append all articles in Excel, but I have no idea how to do it.

Not at all Pete, it was easier to just changed the link than created a new entry ;D

Sebastien maybe you could enter them like that :

39 Steps, The

It doesn't look really great, but they will appear in the right place :hmmmm:

It isn't fun when we aren't that good with computer, something that took me hours will be an automatic procedure with you

That's good to know Jimmy! I was worried that was part of the reason.

If nothing else can be figured out for it... I think I would prefer 39 Steps, The in the right place over at the end listed as The 39 Steps... but that could be just me. And as I said... it isn't a huge deal for me anyway.

It has been ages since I did anything with Excel, so I have long since forgotten how to do anything with it.

Hmm..seems like there should be a way to do that.

Hmm..seems like there should be a way to do that.

With computers, what "should" be there often collides with what "is" there ;)

Manually appending the articles at the end isn't too bad.. I just don't want to manually sort  8)

Oh and Jimmy - it won't all be automated. I'll still have to add the reviews in the list manually. But the table will be generated automatically.

Ok..I found this and it talks about all kinds of formulas.  Not sure if one of the ones in the text section is what you are looking for though.

I agree Pete.

And thank you Jimmy for your time spent on this daunting task, it was most appreciated.

I'm sure it's just a display option somewhere. Excel can sort properly and still display the prefix in the correct place. I prefer the look of "The 39 Steps", but don't bust a gut... ;)

Fixed

Our good friend "the sort title" to the rescue!

Currently I'm only considering "THE" as an article in the formula. It can be easily modified though.

Here's the solution I'm using:
