I hate scanning!
« on: May 06, 2008, 10:00:30 PM »
<this is a rant, and about myself, so feel free to not read>

I said recently, and I'll say it again: I hate scanning! Or the aftermath actually. Case in point, my latest « Chantal » cover scan.

Now I'll admit, right off the bat, I didn't spend all that long tweaking the scan itself. But, when I did it, I was happy with it. It looked good. Colors were nice, sharpened just right for my taste. An overall decent scan.

So I happened to look at it again today.. What do I notice? It's full of little dust spots, discolorations, scratches, it looks too dark (but it's probably my monitor here at work. It's a crap monitor.) I'm not happy at all with it at the moment. I keep noticing improvements I could make all over the place.

Now, why is it that when I actually scan it, I don't notice these things, and now, a few days later, they just keep jumping right at my face? I hate it! Now I feel like I have to go right back in, scan it again, and spend countless hours just cleaning it. Why can't I be happy with it like I was the last time when I told Jimmy I had just posted it to my site?

Am I just a perfectionist who can't ever be happy? Or a dimwit lacking the knowledge to do what he wants to do?

 :hysterical: Possible

I knew shouldn't have singled out the Chantal scan..

But the same thing happens with almost every scan I do though.

A little bit too perfectionist maybe? Honestly, I just it and I don't see those defects that you mention. Maybe some little white spot in the base of the back cover (you are not responsible of the case defect), but I've to enlarge it to see that... Compare to what my scan looks like yours are perfect.

I think it's the monitor. I looked at them (not knowing the originals though) and thoought they looked fine.
