DC's Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete First Season

IMDb |Wikipedia |Trailer |

Plot:
From the creators of The Flash and Arrow comes this Super Hero team-up that combines characters from both series, as well as new heroes from the DC Comics pantheon. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront the unstoppable threat of the immortal Vandal Savage— a threat which not only puts the world at stake, but all of time itself.

Episodes:

1. Pilot, Part 1
2. Pilot, Part 2
3. Blood Ties
4. White Knights
5. Fail-Safe
6. Star City 2046
7. Marooned
8. Night of the Hawk
9. Left Behind
10. Progeny
11. The Magnificent Eight
12. Last Refuge
13. Leviathan
14. River of Time
15. Destiny
16. Legendary

Stars:
Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein
Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/The Atom
Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter
Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary
Franz Drameh as Jefferson Jackson/Firestorm
Ciara Renee as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl
Falk Drameh as Carter Hall/Hawkman

Extras:
  • Featurettes
  • Outtakes/Bloopers
  • Digital Copy

My Thoughts:
This is a show that hooked me from the pilot episode. I enjoyed every mnute of it and liked that they introduced most of the characters on other series so I was already used to the characters and who was playing them. This is definitely a series I would recommend to a superhero fan. Even if they did mess with the Firestorm character a little too much in my opinion. Running only 16 episodes... the first season is also a little on the short side. But well worth the watch.

I enjoyed the first season, but compared to Flash, it disappoint me. But the second season started out great so far. They learned from their mistakes.

With Firestorm there is one huge problem: They seem to do they hardest, that one or both of Firestorm has a reason to stay behind on the ship, and not be part of the action. Most possibly because of budgetary reasons. The Firestorm special effects are probably really expensive.

I never could getr through the full pilot of Legends of Tomorrow. The whole concept just seemed a bad mishmash of different time-travel concepts such as Doctor Who and its Timelords (something Arthur Darvill would know a thing or two).

But I watched the season two episodes The Justice Society of America and Shogun and quite enjoyed them (though they seem not to care about influencing the timeline anymore with killing an apparantly famous Shogun in (this fictional) japanese history.

Superman: The Movie: Extended Cut (1978/United States)
IMDb |Wikipedia |Trailer |
Warner Home Video (United States)

Writing:Jerry Siegel (Original Characters By), Joe Shuster (Original Characters By), Mario Puzo (Story By), Mario Puzo (Screenwriter), David Newman (1937) (Screenwriter), Leslie Newman (Screenwriter), Robert Benton (Screenwriter)
Length:151 min.

Stars:
Marlon Brando as Jor-El
Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor
Christopher Reeve as Superman / Clark Kent
Ned Beatty as Otis
Jackie Cooper as Perry White

Plot:
Richard Donner's big-budget blockbuster Superman: The Movie is an immensely entertaining recounting of the origin of the famous comic book character. Opening on Krypton (where Marlon Brando plays Superman's father), the film follows the Man of Steel (Christopher Reeve) as he's sent to Earth where he develops his alter-ego Clark Kent and is raised by a Midwestern family. In no time, the movie has run through his teenage years, and Clark gets a job at the Daily Planet, where he is a news reporter. It's there that he falls in love with Lois Lane (Margot Kidder), who is already in love with Superman. But the love story is quickly sidetracked once the villainous Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) launches a diabolical plan to conquer the world and kill Superman. Superman: The Movie is filled with action, special effects and a surprising amount of humor.

Extras:

My Thoughts:

This movie... with Christopher Reeve in the starring role... was how I grew up knowing Superman to be. At the time I was more used to seeing him in the role more so then George Reeves. I believe this came from a time that I did not like to watch anything that was in Black and White.... yes... I was one of those people at one time. But I have sense learned there is a lot of great entertainment out there in Black and white... and now have all the George Reeves Superman episodes... including the early Black and White ones. But I think... to me at least... when I think Superman... I still picture Christopher Reeve. There is several short additions to the film in this edition... though nothing that changes anything in the storyline. But still a great movie.

Now that the time has come I found myself fallen out of the mood for Superhero/comic films... so to ATTEMPT to push myself back into it a little I decided to try something... next I will attempt to watch all the Justice League animated films in order of release. We will see if this will push me back into the mood or take me completely out of the mood for this marathon.

Sad to hear it. I was looking forward to a month of reviews of my favorite movie genre. But if you aren't in the mood, I understand. Maybe another time[emoji4]
