Yes she is...and she is not someone to cross if someone she cares about is in danger.  Remember how she ...flipped out questioning that woman last season when Alexis was kidnapped?  flipped the table over and was screaming at her.  Ohhh..that reminds me.  For the first episode of that story, there is a deleted scene on the DVD set that shows Kate getting to the van and reacting to seeing all the blood.  And she does react.  I think they should have left that scene in to show more that she is taking it almost as hard as Rick.  By the time Rick turned up at the site, Kate had enough time to get her emotions under control to be strong for Rick. 
Did you notice the look on her face when she went in that house after Rick collapsed?  She was a woman on a mission to save Rick and she wasn't going to be stopped.

I don't know for sure if that is what is going on with Pi, but that is what I read in some posts.  I don't like that idea.  Some people suggested that Alexis is just going through her stupid boyfriend phase...which I guess I can see.  Someone else suggested that maybe she sees in Pi how Castle use to be back at the beginning of the series - more fun and lighthearted all the time.  Maybe she was missing that aspect of her father..  I think I could see that too..and it wouldn't annoy me too much.  Someone did point out that Pi has already been more supportive to Alexis with her family trouble than Ashley was.  He couldn't even answer the phone when Rick and Martha were being held hostage in the bank..Pi went with Alexis to the hospital and even did his version of trying to help with that healing whatever he did.  Yes he doesn't seem to serve much purpose right now...and he does seem to be kind of a ..waste, but he does seem to be there for Alexis.  Which is something.  And it is more than Ashely did.  Heck, most of that relationship seemed to be Alexis doing everything to fit him and his needs...wanting to go to Standford in early admission to be with him...planning to take all the same classes as Ashley despite never having been interested in economics and whatever before..  She was staying home and waiting for him to call when they had agreed to talk, and then he couldn't be bothered to call.  So in some ways, I can see Pi being better than Ashley.  I watched both episodes again last night, and he didn't annoy me. Yes I still thought what a goof at times, but that was it.  Also, in the first episode, after Rick is back home and Pi is preparing the papaya steaks - yes that is just ridiculous - Pi is trying really hard to be helpful to Rick.  It seems like he really wants Rick to like him, and he is disappointed when Rick leaves instead of talking to him.  He isn't bothering me now.  And you have to admit, he is loads better than Pelante.

I definitely think this episode planted the seeds for her that this job is not for her.  Well...I'm thinking the seeds were there even in the first episode - still not unpacked except for a very few items.  She wasn't feeling right there.  And she had a few issues with work, with that training exercise going wrong.  And it even illustrates the fundamental differences between how Kate looks at things and how the agents do.  Kate saw the woman as a hostage/victim instead of suspecting that she might have been involved in it too like agent...crap..I forgot again.  lol  Agent Mentor said she should have.  That different keeps being pointed out.  The task force looks at the big picture and is happy to wrap up stuff and move on while Kate is more focused on the smaller details, especially where victims and their families are concerned.  So I think the seeds were there...but Kate was ignoring them at that point.  Then Rick almost died and she found out that the secretary of defense was involved and there wouldn't be any investigation.  Shades of grey and all that.  Grey doesn't fly with Kate, especially when she feels that someone is getting away with murder.   There is no way she can work somewhere that does that, especially with what she has learned about her mom's murder and Bracken.  When Kate had that final talk with Agent Mentor there at the end, I think Kate finally stopped ignoring those seeds..misgivings...doubts..whatever you want to call them.  And Kate reacts to Agent Mentor saying that is what partners do...  Kate looks back towards Rick room like she is thinking he is her partner and he is the one she needs to be supporting and being supported by.

Ryan and Esposito know about the engagement.  In the first episode, when Rick calls them to ask about the picture he found, Ryan asks him if he told all his groupies that he was engaged.  Rick didn't answer...instead he teased Ryan about the doll.  I'm thinking that the family knows - and I including Ryan, Esposito, and Laine in the family - but there hasn't been a public announcement.  There would be attention from the press over that - Rick has been a most eligible bachelor a few times..I don't think they want that sort of attention right now.  It certainly wouldn't be good for the press to be trailing Kate while she was working with the task force.  I'm not sure if Gates knows or not.  I could see that going either way.  I saw a picture from the next episode that has Gates in it...it almost looks like she is standing up for Castle against Agent Mentor.  I think Kate being back at the 12th, but as basically an outsider is going to bother her..and I think her being back there is going to be another push for her to go home..if not the final thing that pushes her to make that decision.  One or two people suggested that maybe she'll also serve as a sort of liason with the FBI after she is back on the force.  I could live with that.

Last night was the first time I read any interviews or anything from the one fan site.  I got sucked in and spent way longer than intended doing that.  lol  But I did see a few ideas that I think make sense.  I haven't exactly hated Kate being in DC, but that is probably because I know it is a temporary thing.  If we didn't know it was short term, I would be a little more...unhappy I guess.  Ryan and Esposito in even less of the episode..and still no Laine.  Grrrrr.

Ohhh...about Kate showing emotion and stuff.  Someone pointed it out on that board and I noticed when I watched again last night.  When Kate is talking to Rick at the end of the first episode, when she stops him from cracking jokes, she calls him babe.  I missed that the first time I watched it, but it is there.  And if you watch her eyes, you can tell she is upset.  I also think that she was being careful on how much to show there because she is still new there..fitting in...and it was only a day after she and Rick got chewed out for him interfering in the case.  I think if they had been in New York, she would have shown a little more..though I don't think she would have broken down in front of him.  Look how they both acted during Still...each trying to be strong for the other.  And she had to stay focused so she could find the antidote in time.

I am kind of looking forward to seeing Kate meet Pi...I'm curious how she will react.  And what he will call her.  Calling Rick Mr. C...which I do think it kind of cute.  I kept thinking that reminded me of something..now I know.  Fonzi called Ritchie's parents Mr. and Mrs. C.  Soo...maybe Pi is Castle's Fonzi.     sorry...couldn't resist. 

I hope we get to see Kate and Rick talk when she is deciding about returning to New York and I hope one of brings up something about how things went down with the secretary of defense sort of paralleled Bracken and him getting away with his part in the murder of her mom.  The situations are a bit different...Valkyrie was a covert operative in deep cover in a hostile country.  Yes it sucks that he still ordered the strike knowing she was in the house and then ordered the one guy to get her body and take it to Dreamworld, but I think death is a ... higher than average possibility for people in that sort of deep cover.  That was more like a war situation than straight out murder.  But there was still a cover up, which is going to bother Kate.  I just think it would be good if we got to see her ...hmm..process all that I guess with Rick.   

Something else that isn't directly tied to the last few episodes...but it could still be a spoiler for a previous episode, and I have a few thoughts about how a certain ....situation may come up again.  So I'm using the spoiler tags again...just in case.

I hope Rick's dad is back in some way this season.  It could just be him managing to get some sort of message to Rick again...like when he sent him the copy of Casino Royale after they rescued Alexis at some point, but I would like to see him back at some point too.  Even though he said they wouldn't see each other again, I really doubt that he would stop watching over Rick, Alexis and Martha after he's spent a huge part of his life doing that.  At some point, he will find out that Rick and Kate are engaged - or married, depending on how long it takes - and he could send some sort of gift that Rick realizes is from him.  It is probably wishful thinking on my part, but I want Kate to be able to meet him somehow.  I also think it could be interesting if at some point, he is able to get information to Rick and Kate that would help Kate take down Bracken once and for all.  Not that he does it...but he manages to help a little bit.  He has been able to watch over Rick, Alexis, and Martha for years, so he has his ways...and he probably has connections.  I think it would be likely for help on that front coming from him instead of Kate getting it from her new coworkers...or for Kate to be allowed to pursue that in any way.  They have a recording of what the secretary of defense did yet they won't be any questions asked.  There is no way Kate could try to go after Bracken from there.  She has no concrete proof.  I don't know that trying to bring down Bracken was a consideration for her when she took the job, but I have seen speculation that it was.  That she thought she could use that position to launch a full investigation into Bracken..something like that.  If the thought ever entered her mind - which if it did, that is something else that needs to come out for sure in an episode - then she'll have to accept that it won't happen after how things with the secretary of defense went down.  Her thinking she could use the job to get Bracken would sort of make sense for why she suddenly decided that she wanted to be a fed when she'd always been annoyed when they turned up in her cases before.

We all know how dangerous Kate can be, both when it comes to her moms case, (the rabbit hole) and to the people she cares about. You just look at her when Alexis was kidnapped. And in Cops and Robbers (season 4 i think it was) When Rick was hostage in the bank robbery. And thats a great side to her, makes her more human. And i havent got the dvdset for season 5 yet. I would actually really like to see Kate "lose it" a bit becuse of Rick. And we all saw how 'dangerous' and how far Rick is willing to go too, for the people he loves. And thats good IMHO. Well, for Pi. Blergh, even tho you are warming up to him i'm not. Just glad he will be gone. Trying to be nice to Rick, well. Making a mess out of his place? Rude! Got a bit of a attitude towards him. Rude! And he's only been with Alexis for a short while. To soon to bring him in to the hospital scene. And i mean, we havent seen Kate meet him yet. (But he was in the same room as him) thats something right? And for Ash. Well, i dont have too much to say about that tho. A few seasons ago. Maby a timefiller. And i will agree with you Pi is just a little better then Pelante. fuck Pelante! Both gotta go IMHO. And the whole FBI saga again. Something iffy (as i've said all along) but i hope we will get some answers in a few episodes, when Rick and Kate hopefully have a talk about everything. I'm still not sure how Gates is going to handle all of this. But i think might be happy down the road with the happy family back together. And for Lanie not being used yet, makes perfectly sense. No dead body in NY yet. Thats her job, dead bodies. I guess next episode is her return. And what fan site was that if i might ask? Cool!    and yeah, i heard it aswell. Its nice to actually see she calls him that. Two seasons ago she would never! And for Ricks dad, they said something about wanting him back at the show. So lets hope they will have the time etc. Would be great! I'm looking forward to the next episode. I think alot of questions will be answered.

Yup...Kate is a force to be reckoned with..oh, there was the episode when she had to shoot that one guy in the police station..he'd been holding a gun to Rick ...the guy was the hired killer who killed her mom.  She kind of flipped then too.  And she still did protect Rick even though it endangered her chances of getting answers about her mom's murder. 
Yup...we saw a different side of Rick when Alexis was taken.  And he has put himself in danger for Kate too.

I'm not saying Pi is a favorite or anything...he's still an idiot, but ...he isn't annoying me as much, so I can deal with him popping up..for now.  If he hangs around too long, that may change, depending on what he is doing.  Yes the way he messed up the kitchen was bad, but I do think he was trying, he is own messed up way.  Hmm..that's true...I wasn't thinking of the fact that he and Kate were both at the hospital.  Duh.     I still want to see Kate actually....deal with him some way.  react to the offer of an all fruit dinner or something like that.  And I want to hear what he calls her. 

I'm not sure how Gates will react either.  She did really push Kate to take the job to begin with, so she may have some kind of...disappointment about Kate not sticking that job...though she would probably would like to have Kate back solving murders since Kate had a fairly high case closure rate.

I know there have been dead bodies in New York...but Kate and Laine are friends...they could have talked...or she could have been in the precinct talking to Ryan and Esposito about a case..or just visiting Esposito.  Far as I know they are still dating.

The site was castletv.net  They have information about the show and stuff..links to stories ...and there are forums.  I read a lot on the forums for the first 2 episodes. 

I like that they had her call him that too.  It shows she is more ....settled and comfortable in the relationship..and she is showing more affection at times too. 

I do hope his dad returns in some way. 

I'm looking forward to it too..and hopefully it will be the end of the DC nonsense.  Kate just isn't right for DC.  She can do the job, but that job isn't for her, with all the shades of gray and stuff like that.

Ofcourse she's a force to be reckon with. She's the supercop, and when she gets in that mode. Not much is stopping her. (Even bending\breaking the rules) And we have seen what she's been willing to do for Rick trough out the seasons. I think she might have liked him almost from start or season 2. And for Rick, look what he's done for her. EVERYFUCKINGTHING! "Doormat Rick" sometimes. He's even put his lovelife on hold for her. (That we've seen) If thats not love. And it was refreshing to see Rick react, not only be this goofball. Good to see that he got a darker side, maby we get to see that again? Something happening, and we see Ricks dad again. Maby he will meet Kate aswell? I read something (dunno remember when\where) but something about upcoming tension between Kate and Alexis. Take it with a grain of salt. It would be interesting to see how that would play out. And how Rick would react to that. Interesting And for Pi, annoying character. Out of place. He's with the CIA or something. Iffy situation. But i guess come Monday we will have some more answers maby. (Andy are in contact with his fans, unlike someone else!) And Gates. I dont think she will be disappointed, i think she will be glad to have her back. Since she's a result lady. And Kate had the biggest closing rate on the cases. And for Lanie and Espo dating. Are they? Do we know that? Or do we think that? I heard some rumors that Espo and the new hot computer chick might start something. And i guess that would be.. allright. And hah! Castletv is the page\forum i use aswell! Great choise! We've seen alot of development between both Rick and Kate, and alot of growth. But i think we will some major stuff this season. Should be great. And nobody can deny that Kate got what it takes for a FBI job. She's a supercop. BUT i dont think (as you) its the job for her. She does it for the victims and their families. FBI dont care that much about it. They see the bigger picture. "And saving the world" blah blah. And i will be working 10 hour days tomorrow and Sunday, so hopefully the times fly's by. And we got some new and great answers! And something more to discuss!

I think she has liked him for longer than she wants to admit..  Definitely by in season 2...even in the first season I think.  Remember, she was a big fan before the first episode...reas all his books.  Maybe she did have a bit of a crush at first, but she hid it by being ..annoyed by him.  When they went to talk to him the first time about that first case, he was at a press event with gorgeous woman falling all over him.  Kate didn't want to be seen that way, so she hid it.  And she was definitely interested by the end of season 2.  Rick had invited her to go to the Hamptons with him...she was with Demming - grrrr...grumble grumble - and turned him down, but by the end of the episode, she dumped Demming and was going to take him up on the invitation, but then Gina showed up because he finally stopped dodging her calls and they talked and talked..blah blah, decided to try again.  Kate waited just a little too long that time.  Then in the third season she was with Josh - didn't like him either.  I don't think she was ever serious with either Demming or Josh..she would never let that happen.  and that could be part of why she ...avoided Rick as long as she did..that she knew it would be more serious because her feelings, even before they were actually involved, were stronger.  Plus she had the insecurity about the fact that he's been married before and dated a lot of women. 

I do want to see Rick's dad again and I want him and Kate to actually meet.  He knows about Kate, that came out when he turned up to help Rick. 

I've read more ..found a few links to short stories and stuff...some including interviews with Molly Quinn who plays Alexis.  She's saying Alexis is hurt about the engagement because Rick didn't share what he was planning with her...didn't share something that important.  So Alexis evidently thinks that he should have talked to her before he proposed and gotten her ..permission or something and she's turning bratty because he didn't.  On one article I read about it, people were posting comments criticizing Rick...claimed that once he decided to propose he should have gone straight to Alexis first.  I don't really agree with that.  He did a lot of thinking when he decided to propose, but at that time, he wasn't really sure how Kate would react.  I could see him not wanting to tell Alexis or Martha what he was going to do because he didn't want to have to maybe tell them that she said no.  There is supposed to be something in episode 6 or 7 about how Alexis found out..almost makes it seem like Rick wasn't the one to tell her, which wouldn't be good.  Now I'm trying to remember if Alexis had left for Costa Rica yet by the time he proposed.  Hmmmmm.  If she was gone, then maybe he told her in a call or email and that's what irked her, that he didn't tell her in person...which would have been difficult with her out of the country.  Hmmm....

I know Marlowe seems to pay more attention to the fans of the show and I think that is a good thing.  Without the fans, the show will end ...something that someone else hasn't seemed to grasped yet, especially with how determined he seems to be to tick us off constantly. 
That is true...Kate had a great closure rate, which in turn, reflects good on Gates.  I just keep remembering how Gates talked to Kate about her taking that job..what a great opportunity...I think she even said something about how she would have loved an opportunity like that. 

Lanie and Espo started to date again last season.  They had a big date on Valentine's day...Ryan and Rick were teasing Espo about his plans ..then at the end Lanie showed up all dressed up..and Kate had known about the date but hadn't told Rick.  There wasn't a lot about them shared..don't recall anything hinting at any trouble or anything.  So I'm thinking they are still dating.  And I have read a few things that said there would be some more..focus on their relationship this season. 

The characters have really grown a lot since the beginning.  I like that.  They have made more and better progress than Bones I think...yes Kate still showed some issues late in last season, though a big part of that was tied to insecurity, which I think is now under control since she knows for sure Rick is there for the long haul.  Yes he'd told her he loved her before that, but she still had some lingering...doubts I guess and I think the proposal - and the time they had together after that that we didn't get to see - took care of that.  Just from how they were acting in the first two episodes, it seems like they have talked more than what we saw when she said yes.  Ohhhhh...something else I was going to mention.  I didn't notice the first time I saw the first episode, but someone mentioned it at castletv and I watched closely when I rewatched the episode.  I did see that she was wearing the engagement ring on a chain around her neck...what I missed at first was that her mom's ring was on the chain too.

I did find something last night that shared some spoilers for the next episode..including something that ..might be at the end..  While it isn't a bad thing, I'm hoping it isn't the very end and that something else happens.  I want Kate back in New York and back at the 12th.

I'm anxious for the next episode too.  Can't wait.

Ugh, so tired, so much work. And so little time to do it all. Glad i'm going to have a week off in late October! Aanyways, back to Castle!
It was said in the early seasons by one of her ex's that the books of Rick has helped her get trough her moms murder. And that she stood in line a long time ago, to get a signed copy of one of his books. That would be cool to see now, now that they are together and all. And as was said in season 4 or 3 (dont remember) BY Kate that she always had the one foot out the door with her relationships. (Thats before she met Rick) now they both are all in. I guess she was afraid maby? By Rick's history, with "all" of his failed marriges. He's playboy persona. All the hot model's he's dated etc. (Since she said aswell in season 1) that she is the one and done type of girl. But i guess the reward for them both was worth the risk. And its made for good tv! Specially with great actors like'em. And wow what a chemistry they got. I think we will see Rick's dad again (Mr CIA) in some way. Andy has said a few times now that they want him back. So they have to find a time in his schedual. I dont know if the actor who played him is busy with other shows\movies now. Isnt he married to Barbra Streisend btw? So IF the Alexis stuff is true. Fuck it. I mean, he didnt tell her first? Wtf selfishness is that? He's a grown up. She's 19 years old. Sure he should tell her AFTER he proposed to Kate, but his daugther to know first? Naah. If thats the case, i dont know if i like the character anymore. Or the way she's going. She's off to college ffs. She got her own dorm. Got a new boyfriend (a brat of boyfriend i might add) Be happy for your dad and "stepmom" wich i think will be a great "stepmom" I know Lanie and Espo was\is on\off. But didnt know they were dating now. And i remember the episode too where they went on the date and Kate didnt tell Rick. But i've also heard some rumors about him and the new hot computer chick. But i guess i will take that with a grain of salt. And for the ending of the next episode, i've read something in the other forum aswell. That people have read something about the ending. But i dont know what will happen etc. What will happen? Do you have a link? And for the wetpaint, i dont read them much anymore. They are known to lie in the storys, and say things arent true etc. Take them with a grain of salt

Haha, i just watched a sneak peek for this Monday's episode. Whoa! Looks like its going to be a great episode. Agent Mentor is looking more bitchy than ever (!?) And Kate is like.. "I'm so sorry about all this" written all over her face. Going to be a hoot!

Ohhh...I remember that now.  The books helping her...and I remember hearing about her going to get an autographed copy of a book too.  It would be very interesting to see that.  And I remember about Kate talking about always having one foot out the door.  And she ended it with Demming...and I'm thinking she ended it with Josh too.  We didn't see that, but she mentioned it later, and I'm thinking she did.  She may have tended to be the one to end things in teh past..protect herself, either from getting hurt or from getting so interested and attached that she would be hurt.  It has been interesting to see the developments.  I am happy with where they are now...except for the DC stuff.

I think it will be good for his dad to come back at some point.  James Brolin...and yes, he is marred to Barbra Stresiand.  I don't think he's done a lot in recent years, so hopefully he can come back.

I know what you mean...if that is really what is going on with Alexis, I don't like it.  One thing I read said something about how she is acting out about the engagement..I don't think she was really doing that in the first two episodes, but then again, we barely saw her.  So, not sure what to think about that yet.  Though maybe it will end up just being a small thing that amounts to nothing...like last season in the episode when she is leaving for college.  Rick mentioned their special dinner..she didn't want to go..he said something about the reservations, and she got snappy, telling him to take his new girlfriend.  Later in the episode, when Rick talks to her about how Kate isn't going to ..take her place or whatever, Alexis said she knew that..and her blow up earlier had nothing to do with Kate really.  She was just...nervous about going to college and not having him there every day - even though she is only like 5 miles away or something like that.  So maybe it will turn out like that and basically be nothing.  I hope.  Because for Alexis to be upset and bent out of shape because Rick didn't talk to her first is just stupid and really makes her out to be a brat.  I was thinking a little more about this last night and I had a thought.  Alexis has seen Rick date a lot of women as she has grown up, but none of them got serious.  Even with Gina, it wasn't that serious I don't think.  Gina said during the one episode in season 3 when she got the tickets for Alexis and Ashley that she always felt on the outside with Rick and Alexis..they didn't let her in their little...connection or whatever.  Rick always put Alexis first and kept her mostly to himself.  What he has with Kate is more serious than any other relationship he's had..even with Meredith - though Alexis seems to have her own issues with not wanting Meredith around too much.  Alexis has seen them together and she has to have realized that it is different for her dad..and Kate is different.  Alexis may just be worried that now that Rick has a relationship that is so different and more serious, that her relationship with her dad is going to change so that they won't be as close.  And that could be why she thinks he should have talked to her before proposing..because of the really close relationship they have had and how he has talked to her about all sorts of stuff in the past.  If that is the case, I can kind of understand her actions more.  Hopefully it won't take too long for them to work that out and get past whatever she is upset about.  I have read that in one of the episodes, Alexis is more involved in a case.  Well...she gets Rick involved which will get Kate involved.  Alexis is working on something to try to get someone off death row I think it is.  So maybe during that episode is when they can talk stuff out ...and Alexis will be happy about the engagement and see Kate as a member of the family.

I think I found the link in one of the threads at castletv.net.  I don't have it now.  But according to the story, at the end of the episode, Rick and Kate are together and they are talking.  Then Rick says that the long distance isn't working - something along those lines - and he takes out a key saying he got them a place in DC.  Someone did point out that it doesn't say that is how the episode ends..or even how that scene ends and that Kate could say that she wants to come home.  Also, I was just thinking...Kate already has a place in DC and Rick stayed there before..he obviously had a key since he was there when she got home.  So, technically, they have a place in DC.  Guess we will see tomorrow.

I haven't seen any more previews other than what was at the end of the last episode.  Well if Agent Mentor - it made me laugh that you used that name too    - is getting more bitchy, that could help Kate decide to go home.  Especially if Agent Mentor goes after Ryan and Espositio in some way.  I did see a few pictures from the episode.  In one of them, Gates is there... she is kind of facing off against Agent Mentor with her guys - including Castle behind her.  It almost looked like Gates is defending Castle..or she is ripping Agent Mentor a new one.  Rick did have a bit of a smile on his face.  Kate is with Agent Mentor, but Gates is fully focused on Agent Mentor.  It would be nice to see her put Agent Mentor in her place.  Like don't come in my house and insult my people type of thing.  I don't think Gates was exactly thrilled when the feds turned up before.  Except when Alexis was taken..she didn't seem to mind too much then.

Marie Marie Marie! Holy shit! That was one awesome episode really! With a twist i didnt see coming at all. Andy & co did it again. I wont say anything more before you have watched it. But i think it will be a interesting few weeks. (and i will have a reply for what you said about Alexis and the others. But i'll wait till you've seen the episode.) And yep, for me its "Agent Mentor" so much easier to remember. Hope thats ok.

Holy shit indeed.  Wow.  Holy shit.  Now we now why she is back..yes this way kind of sucks, but it works and I can also see it making sense for the character...  as I will get to.

How the episode started - with them doing the video chat thing in bed - was really cute.  Then of course Pi and his noisy juicer had to interrupt....but he was barely around at least.  Also..I read something - from tvguide.com I think it was, talking about something happening in the episode in 3 weeks - on the 28th - and Pi is still there..and seems like he may have a bigger part.  There is a ...development with him and Alexis evidently.  Oh wait...that is going to be the 6th episode..and I think that is supposed to be when something about how Alexis found out is brought up.  So maybe she and Rick will have a little tiff...or it will end up like other times where she blows up at him - this time over you didn't talk to me before you proposed..wah wah wah...and he takes it.  Yes she has been a good daughter, but he is still her father and she isn't showing him respect when she does that crap.  He really should have put his foot down one of those times in the past when she mouthed off about something when he raised a concern.  He should have just cut her off with something like I am your father and I can and will be concerned about your safety...that is part of being a father..and I get to tell you to be careful...something like that.   She's gotten more of an attitude that isn't likable.  I did see something earlier tonight where Molly Quinn was saying that Alexis is upset because she isn't getting the same attention from her dad.  I seem to recall that Alexis has been the one for the last year or so that has been pushing him away a bit..telling him that she is grown up and to back off or whatever.  Sounds like she wants it both ways.

The episode was really good...but the first time we are back in New York and we get Purlmutter instead of Lanie??  grumble grumble grumble.  And yes I know she hasn't been in all the episodes since we've seen Purlmutter before..I was just ready for Lanie too. 

The case was interesting, and it fits that Castle would want to help since it was kind of odd and had that actor.  Agent Mentor was a bit more bitchy this time..though at least she didn't flip out over Rick being there.  Ryan and Esposito weren't too unhappy with Kate, so that's good..though Esposito was calling her Judas for a while..and accusing Rick of being one too.  That was kind of cute how he was stuck in the middle and trying to get information from her.  I liked that Kate slipped that flash drive to Rick so they got some information..even though it pissed off Agent Mentor.  That was just an added benefit.  And then Gates got to tell her off a bit - the killer shouldn't get away with it just for some government stuff.  And that is a big thing for Kate too, as we know. 

I didn't like Detective Slob..though I didn't dislike him exactly either.  I just wanted him to go away.  After he cleaned up the freaking mess.  How the heck could his desk - Kate's desk - be that trash heap and Gates not bitch him out over it?  How could he do anything without getting his food smeared all over everywhere?  I was just waiting for a glob of ketchup to drop off that hamburger and land in the middle of an important report or something.  Ick.  Did you see Rick's face when he saw that desk?  :lol 

As for the ending.  Well...the part about Rick saying the long distance wasn't working and he got them an apartment in DC, that was from the one spoiler thing I read a few days ago..but that was where it ended.  There was nothing about Detective Mentor showing up.  Or what happened next.  I so did not see that happening, but I am not surprised that Kate leaked that about the actress - cant' remember her name either.  What that CIA jerk was doing, forcing her to inform on her family, was just wrong, and you could see how much it upset Kate, but Agent Mentor wasn't bothered.  It totally fits Kate that she would do that...she would see that as righting something she saw as wrong.  I do wonder how their boss - whoever the hell that is - knew that Kate did it..and why Kate didn't ..question that.  Ask for what proof they had or something.  And while it does kind of suck that she was fired, it means no more DC!!!!  Woooo freaking hooooo.  Now just get Alexis over her snit and we're good to go.  I do wonder if we get some kind of explanation for how Kate gets back at the 12th, but she has to.  I had read speculation before that she would be some kind of liaison for the FEDs..I don't think that will happen now.  And really, it is for the best for Kate.  She would keep getting upset by crap they were told to do or knew was happening that she felt was wrong.  She would keep ....bending rules until it had ..bigger repercussions that really got her in trouble - like brought up on chargers for obstruction of justice or something.   I had read some things that suggested she might have still been on a probation period with the task force and therefore hadn't actually quit the force..just a leave of absence or something.  Which that could work.  Gates would be a fool not to want to take her back.  Guess we will see if there is any sort of...issue there.  With Gates, I just never now.

Ohhh...I almost forgot.  Even though I didn't want Rick moving to DC - because that would mean the show was moving there and screwing stuff up - it was good that Rick did that.  It is just something else showing Kate that he is fully committed to making them work and he wasn't asking her to choose between him and the task force job.  Which is good.  Even though they do seem so much happier and everything, it still good that she gets that ..reassurance.  Also, I liked how happy he looked when she showed up with Agent Mentor - to see Kate.  And how happy Kate was when she went in the break room to see him..even though she ended up refusing to give him any information then.

Something else...there was one or two things I read in the last week tied to Edlestein - can't remember how to spell her name - about her character.  She was in the first episode the most, but has the most impact in the third or something like that.  Given what happened there at the end, I would agree with that.

Next week's episode looks good.  Not that I think he is really in danger, but they do fairly well at those sort of episodes.  And hopefully we will hear a little more of the aftermath of Kate getting fired.  One think I had read before, someone was thinking that maybe she was back in DC packing while Rick was dealing with that hostage stuff.  It looked like she was there at the site outside before Rick went in.

Did you notice the look on Esposito's face when that CIA guy turned up - when they found the guns - and told Agent Mentor it was need to know when she asked why they weren't told about something?     That was good...and Agent Mentor didn't look too happy at that moment either.

Rick and Kate talked about an issue.  Yes it was kind of a short talk, but given the restraints of the time frame, I'm ok with that.  But the main thing is, Rick was unhappy about the situation - the long distance - and he didn't just brood about it and let things build and build and build till they had a big, ugly argument - like when Kate didn't tell him about the job offer and her uncertainty about their relationship and where they going last year.  Yes Kate did look a little worried at first, but they talked.      And they were happy at the end of the talk with Rick getting the apartment in DC.  So hopefully they are getting past being bothered by something but never saying anything until one, or both, of them, blow up.

One last thing...not sure if Kate will be back to work or not.  Maybe it will be something that she still isn't back on teh force, and Rick is at home writing and the guys or even Gates calls him because that woman will only talk to Rick..so Kate goes with Rick and that's why I saw her at the scene in the little preview....or she could be back to work.  But I got to thinking last night, and realized there could be another reason for her being there than just she was back to work.  I don't think Kate is going to feel like a failure for getting fired..she followed her moral compass..did what she thought was right because what the CIA jerk was doing was wrong to her.
