Assassin's Creed (2014)

Michael Fassbender was cast for this a few months ago as the lead but Ubisoft have just hired newcomer Michael Lesslie to write the screenplay.

I know a few here will be looking forward to this, but I just hope it's not as dull and repetitive as the games.

Being the specialist for adaptations of games, I guess they are hiring Uwe Boll as director too?

Just finished the first game about a week ago.  Don't think it's really left me needing to see this play out on the big screen.

I like Resident Evil... I can't say if it is or isn't a good adaptation as I've never play the game, but it sure felt like one.

You are not the first person to make the Uwe Boll joke and Ubisoft has already sais he will not be directing.  Thank the Maker!  I am really hoping that they do a good adaptation, this could be a fantastic movie.  As long as they do not do the hokey crap like at the end of DOOM where the movie appears to go into game play.  If I remember correctly Stay Alive had some video game basis and while not being Othello it was a good film.

So could have been PoP (Prince of Persia), one of the very few video games that have a story that might work in a movie too. And look what they've done to it (or better don't).

I never played the first one, but in a recent interview one of the developers admitted they shipped the game on schedule, knowing it was still lacking. I suggest you try at least AC2, I enjoyed that one very much and many people say it is what the first one should have been. All boring bits have been cut away... The second game I actually could envision as a movie.

Well, yeah. Of course there is exceptions to the rule, that all video game movies suck. While not a "good" movie, I certainly had a fun time with it as well.

Apparently Ubisoft just appointed a writer. Michael Fassbender is already attache as well.

Thanks.  I already started on it!  One of the kids already had it lying around.  Also started Arkham Asylum.  Another of the children's games.  Hmm...  Maybe I should find my own games.

Well, I also tried Black Ops and just couldn't get into it.  So their taste doesn't always match mine.

Try Bioshock.   The first one was fantastic.  Second was okay.  Third one is out in March and has been in development for years and should freaking rock

So their taste quite all over the place  But then, it's probably just matching their age. Call of Duty is what "they" play...

I tried playing Bioshock twice so far and couldn't quite get ino it. Although it had a lot more to do with the controls of weapons and plasmid powers than the story. I should just give in and make one more attempt on Easy setting. After all, it's pretty much a classic already.

If you are having issues, play on easy and also adjust the lighting to so it is a little brighter.  That way Rapture isn't so dark and dank and you'll see most enemies before they see you.  Also it cuts into the amount of plasmids you get but don't take on the Big Daddy's unless you have to until you are comfortable.  Finally hack as much as you can.  The Machine guns, rocket launchers and bots are VERY helpful in defeating enemies.
