My Thoughts:
I always enjoyed this movie. I was also amazed by the special effects when I first saw it. Of course nowadays what we see here is nothing special anymore.
Sadly this release is non-anamorphic and also the sound is really low. Though I am not sure if I like the movie so much to double-dip.

My Thoughts:
I just came back from the midnight showing of "The Rocky Horror Picture" show. There is a cinema in Munich, which has been showing this movie each week for decades, including audience participation.
I had already planned to watch this movie for this marathon. And when a friend proposed to watch this movie in the cinema, I immediately agreed. The idea originally came at the Oktoberfest, after the band had played "Time Warp".

I didn't really know what to expect of this cinema visit. I almost feared that we would be the only one not dressing up. But there wasn't anyone who did. I also expected that there will be maybe ten people or so. After all, the movie has been playing there forever. I was really surprised, that the cinema (which is a small one - holding around 60 seats) was packed to the last seat.

This movie is one of my all-time favorite musicals even if it is a little ourageous. The B-movie parody style makes this movie time-less.
I never get tired hearing the movie's soundtrack. I first came to attention of this musical, because of my mother. She is a big fan of it and had urged me to watch it. I first saw it when I was about 12 and even then I enjoyed the music.

It has also been released in Germany. And I was thinking about ordering it for this marathon. But then I thought I would watch the DVD and decide later if I should double dip. The quality of the DVD is still good. And if it weren't for the director's cut ending, I would not be tempted to double-dip.

Amazon do that a lot, but it's just to cover their own backs IMO. Imagine getting it wrong and having to refund tons of imports!

    My Thoughts:
Since seeing this musical live in Stuttgart, I have become a big fan of it. I have listened to the soundtrack (both the original Vienna version and the Vienna revival) countless of times (especially the later one). This DVD is a professional recording of the Hamburg version of the musical. The only professional recording of this musical available. Sadly it was never officially released. I would buy it in a heartbeat. It was produced as a gift to the cast and crew.

    Plot:
1959. Friday nights. We time-traveled. Witnessed surprising twists. Entertained aliens. Experienced fear. And first journeyed to The Twilight Zone of Rod Serling's memorable TV series. And guided by four imaginative moviemakers, we traveled there again in 1983. Directors John Landis, Steven Spielberg, Joe Dante, and George Miller fashion stories based on or inspired by classic episodes. Landis weaves the tale of a bigot who gets a walloping dose of his own hatred. Spielberg takes over with a fable of senior citizens offered a magical rejuvenation. Dante serves up a terror trip with a child who uses his cartoon-inspired powers to enslave his family. Then fright goes aloft with Miller's finale about a neurotic passenger who sees a monster on the jetliner's wing. Or does he?

I enjoyed this movie more than the last time. It is not as good as the better known Twilight Zone episodes, but enjoyable nonetheless. Too bad that there was such a tragic accident on the set, that cut one of the segments short.
