There is several here I would like to check out. I think I may have seen Blood Beach years ago. Probably in my teen years. I want to say I remember enjoying it at the time. Would be a good one to check out again if I could find it.

It was released in april by a German label (Jam Entertainment), but it sounds like a bootleg to me (at best an unauthorized release). I know Jeffrey Bloom tried to works something with an american label last year, but the problem is that he can't find the original master anymore (he only own a tape master who isn't in great shape to begin with). So the chance of a release are almost zero, but we never know maybe a film print (wich isn't the negative, but better than nothing) will appear somewhere sometime in the future.

MOVIE / DVD INFO:

Title: Night of the Living Dead (1990)

Genre: Horror
Director: Tom Savini
Rating: R
Length: 1h28
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1
Audio: English and Portuguese
Subtitles: English, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and Thai

Stars:
Tony Todd
Patricia Tallman
Tom Towles
McKee Anderson
William Butler

Plot:
Seven strangers are trapped in an isolated farmhouse while cannibalistic zombies – awakened from death by the return of a radioactive space probe – wage a relentless attack, killing (and eating) everyone in their path. The classic for the 90’s graphic, gruesome and more terrifying than ever!

My Thoughts:
One of the shitiest blu-ray ever made was just released a couple of days ago for this movie, so to celebrate this event I've decided to watch the DVD.

As I've already said here a couple of times I'm not the biggest fan of this remake. Of course if the original version was this one it would be different as the movie is not that bad but far for flawless. But I can't isolate this film from the original as hard as I try. So this is my problem with it... Barbara does not react realistically. I know that she act like a whiner in the original wich is annoying but understandable as she's under a shock. But in this one she goes from a total mental shock to Rambo in less than 5 minutes... and that doesn't make sense. But this isn't my only problem... they change too many things, the fate of the character being the worst of those modifications.

But not everything is negative, by exemple Tom Towles and Tony Todd are two good cast choice, even if personally I prefer the interpretation of Duane Jones. The special effects are convenable too (but certainly not as good as those in Day of the Dead). Tom Savini is certainly not a good director (honestly he is a really crappy one) but at least he didn't add 500 new characters that we don't care for in his version of this film...

If you can watch it and forget the original you will certainly appreciate it, if you can't you'll do like me and find it ok.

Hehe, thank you Sir! And of course, the original, and then the remake.
I gona say something now, that you wont agree with. But with some
movies, i think they have done a better job sometimes with the
remakes, than with the originals  :-[

MOVIE / DVD INFO:

Title: Retribution (1987)

Genre: Horror
Director: Guy Magar
Rating: R
Length: 1h49
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1
Audio: English
Subtitles: None

Stars:
Dennis Lipscomb
Leslie Wing
Suzanne Snyder
Jeff Pomerantz
George Murdock

Plot:
(click to show/hide)

My Thoughts:
Since I hide the synopsis I'll start with a little desciption of what this film is about. We start with a character who is on the verge of killing himself by jumping from a buiding, what he'll do but he survive the jump. He soon become hunted by a serie of scary nightmare that become real... what is the reason for this and why all this happen to him?

This one is quite a release from Code Red DVD, certainly in the top five in their catalogue. Very different than what was usually release as horror in the mid-eighties, so it isn't a by the book uninspired slasher movie. Dennis Lipscomb is the real reason why the film is so effective as he is a veteran actor (I'm sure you have seen him in many TV shows without knowing his name). The rest of the cast isn't that memorable without being bad, their part isn't just that important. The special effects are convenable without being too over the top.

Strongly recommanded. I know it is hard to get as the stock always sold immediatly when Bill restock his store and it's the only way to get it. But if you are patient and check often to order, you won't regret it.

Of course there are exceptions to every rules. By exemple The Thing (1982), Not of This Earth (1988) or Scarface (1983), but most remake are uninspired non-sense done for no reasons.

I agree to some point with that. :)
But "the no reason" for making the remakes
are to make just a quick buck i guess.

MOVIE / DVD INFO:

Title: The Terror Within (1989)

Genre: Horror
Director: Thierry Notz
Rating: R
Length: 1h28
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1
Audio: English
Subtitles: None

Stars:
George Kennedy
Andrew Stevens
Starr Andreeff
Terri Treas
John LaFayette

Plot:
In the aftermath of a chemically induced plague that wipes out most of the world, the only survivors are a small group of scientists trapped in a laboratory 500 feet below the groung in the Mojave Desert. But they are not alone...

My Thoughts:
Don't be fool by the synopsis who make that film sound like a Damnation Alley / Mad Max hybrid it isn't... In fact it's an Alien clone, not that it is a bad thing. So you know from the start what will happen and how it will end. The story starts quickly, but this isn't full of action like the trailer made it looks. The setting is boring as we see always the same sets and the acting is not that great (George Kennedy doesn't do much in this film). The story is poorly develloped and the end is ridiculous (when we consider the reason why they are in an underground laboratory to begin with...).

But the movie did well enough to get a sequel 2 years later, so what do I know

At least I don't talk about Dead Space the second features on this disc who is in fact a very cheap and boring remake of Forbidden World reviewed by Marie monday... see I give you a free publicity Marie

MOVIE / DVD INFO:

Title: Frogs (1972)

Genre: Horror
Director: George McCowan
Rating: PG
Length: 1h30
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1
Audio: English and Spanish
Subtitles: English, French and Spanish

Stars:
Ray Milland
Sam Elliott
Joan Van Ark
Adam Roarke
Judy Pace

Plot:
Jason Crockett (Milland) is an aging, physically disabled millionaire who invites his family to his island estate for his birthday party. The old man is more than crotchety...he's crazy! Hating nature, Crockett poisons anything that crawls on his property. But on the night of his shindig, it's nature's payback time, as thousands of frogs whip up every bug and slimy thing into a toxic frenzy until the entire environment goes environ-mental.

My Thoughts:
That movie was so scary that I won't be able to sleep at all :fingerchew:

Seriously... What a stupid movie

First there are no frogs at all... those are toad. At least get the good animal for crying out loud :redcard:

And why all those animals who aren't Florida natives lived in that swamp? are they lost?

And why the cast count that many big names? Did Sam Arkoff had compromising pictures of them? I can't imagine any other reason. I mean who in his right mind can read the script and say that one is sure a winner...

Those goddamn toads even ruined the fourth of july cake :redcard:

If only those South American lizards had taught them respect instead of breaking bottles of poison, Jason Crockett would have spent his fourth of july with his family instead of being eaten by a bunch of ungratefull toads :(

Seriously this film is boring, not funny at all and ending it is quite an hard task.
