Plot:Daniel Gillies of SPIDER-MAN 2 stars as an American attorney in Japan whose childhood trauma has left him with a crippling fear of the ocean. My Thoughts:
The first thing I noticed on this episode of "Masters of Horror" is the length. Running 89min. this episode is a good half an hour longer then all the other episodes run. As many of you know I am not very good with shows that have subtitles... but this one isn't too bad as the majority of the show is in English. The extras on this release is not nearly as good as we got for the first season episodes. Even several of the season 2 episodes had more then this... but that could be due to the length of the episode being so much longer. The Audio and Video looks/sounds just fine on my cheap system. No technical problems what so ever on this release.
The episode itself was real good. I definitely enjoyed every minute of it. But at the same time it is not what I would call a favorite episode. I would, however, say that "Dream Cruise" would be in my top 10 favorite episodes. I have found that Japanese horror is very well done... I just wish I could watch more of it without having to deal with all the subtitles When it comes to pure Japanese horror I would never be able to enjoy the story as I would always be pausing and rewinding to get the missed subtitles. The gore factor in this episode is mild compared to many of the previous episodes. But I think that is to be expected in a ghost story. If you never seen it... I definitely recommend "Masters of Horror: Dream Cruise" to any horror fan.
