I've certainly expressed annoyance about how Raimi told the origin. The comic -like many superhero starts- were very simple. Peter is a gifted science student, he's experimenting on his own, a spider wanders through a gamma ray, gets angry, bites the nearest thing (Peter) and promptly dies. Billion to one chance of reproducing those conditions. The key to the 2001 film is that Peter had nothing to do with the spiders, he just happened to be there, and there were how many? 13? All genetically engineered, so perfectly feasible that all the others could wander off and bite a bunch of other people. I had heard they handled the origin better this time? Apparently Peter barely notices it even happened. But I haven't seen it yet.

You wish. They had an entire room full of these advanced spiders. Except for Peter there was just no one stupid enough to walk into it. These spiders were actually bred to produce "spider cables".

I think it is implied in the new movie, that the transformation is a combination of these spiders, and Peter's genes. Probably his father experimented on him or passed some genes onto him. There is still a big mystery left about his father and why he left.

And don't forgot that Ozcorp has made buckets of money selling that spider cable stuff...heck, Peter even gets some of it to use for his web shooters.

Good grief! That sounds pathetic. Where's Christopher Nolan or Joss Whedon when you need them?

Making The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers.

Oh and on Peter not noticing this time...he definitely saw all the spiders in the room with the ...super spider cable stuff.  They ..no...never mind that little bit.  If I remember right, he felt the bite as soon as it happened.

But she's outdoor and do nothing bad except watching me... it's not like when a little groundhog was stuck there and I had to go help him to get out (by doing a catwalk with a board... I ain't crazy enough to use my hand, wild animals are dangerous).

I wouldn't even disturb her if she was inside... spiders are a blessing in a house as they catch the undesirable bugs.

I live in a basement, so spiders are de-facto roommates

Unhuh....if you say so.  I prefer no spiders...or at least none that I can see.
