Oh, I think it's a mistake to dismiss the TV show just because you've seen the movies. You can check out an episode on Youtube. That's certainly not the optimal viewing experience, but at least it can give you a chance to get a taste of the show. There are several episodes there. Try this one, for example:

For the first many years it was quite good.  To me the writing started becoming a little *dated* toward the end of the series (last 3 years?) but still some good episodes.  One of the better 'old' tv series collections I have.
Thank you

It has been a great hit ... but for me making Mr. (Jim) Phelps a traitor really turned me off.  Just fussy that way :)

I did not like that about the first movie either.  It would have been better to just not have the character in the movie at all than do that.

I saw a little of the original show, though I don't remember much of it...and I saw when they tried to reboot the series...late 80s or early 90s I think it was.  I liked that..and if I remember, Jim Phelps was in it too.  But yes, I agree, making Jim a traitor was just wrong.  Wrong wrong wrong.

Blistering barnacles! You just made me realize that I don't actually own this title!  :-[
I have of course seen it. More than once, I might add. I'm pretty sure I had it on VHS. Oh, that's one for the wishlist, for sure!

My Review:
Again another quality movie by Clint Eastwood. But i guess thats what you get from him. He's an Icon afterall. This was a great western flick actually. And i really liked what they did with the story in this. And the cast aswell. Perfect! Gene Hackman was amazing as the bad cop. And you see that Morgan Freeman and Clint Eastwood have great chemistry. Well, if you like a good movie or just like Western, you need to catch this one! Amazing.
Just want to say a quick thing about the bluray, (i havent seen the dvd. So cant compare it) but the picture and sound was just amazing. They have done a great job with it. The DVD might be great aswell, but this blu-ray was amazing.

That was actually 2 entertaining hours. Great mix between the action and comedy. And even tho the story in the movie is quite simple and been done before they make it work. And i have to say that i really enjoyd both Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie together in it. But wasnt this the movie where Pitt and Jolie started to date in real life? Anyways back to the movie. Its a great action\comedy. With two great performances by Pitt and Jolie. A great Sunday flick! You should check it out.

Title: The Untouchables: Special Collector's Edition
Year: 1987
Director: Brian De Palma
Rating: R
Length: 119 Min.
Video: Widescreen 2.35:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital EX: 5.1 (Matrixed 6.1), English: DTS ES: 5.1 (Matrixed 6.1), French: Dolby Digital: 5.1, Spanish: Dolby Digital: 5.1

Plot:
The critics and public agree. Brian DePalma's The Untouchables is a must-see masterpiece – a glorious, fierce, larger-than-life depiction of the mob warlord who ruled Prohibition-era Chicago...and the law enforcer who vowed to bring him down.

This classic confrontation between good and evil stars Kevin Costner as federal agent Eliot Ness, Robert De Niro as gangland kingpin Al Capone and Sean Connery as Malone, the cop who teaches Ness how to beat the mob: shoot fast and shoot first.

Dokumentar

My Review:
Well, i had my hopes up real high for this movie. Had my expactations up real high. And that was a bit of a mistake. With this cast, the story. I mean comeon, "The story about Capone" one of the biggest warlords out there, ever. And this was what they made out of the movie? I mean, dont get me wrong, the movie was average. And it had some moments here and there, but for me it was a bit disappointing. With this strong cast (Mr.De Niro, the mafia himself) i guess i expected just a bit more out of the whole thing. I guess if you like mafia movies. If you find it for a real cheap penny, get it If not, skip it.

In all fairness, Thomas, it isn't the story about Al Capone, and it wasn't meant to be.
