My Blu-Ray Reviews
« on: June 09, 2012, 01:08:37 AM »
I'm new to this. So lets give it a try, and hope it works! :)

Plot/Story: While attending a bachelor party in Las Vegas, four friends are enticed by two sexy escorts to join them at a private party way off the Strip. Once there, they are horrified to find themselves the subjects of a perverse game of torture, where members of the Elite Hunting Club are hosting the most sadistic show in town.

Review: Well, since i am a fan of some of Tarantion's work. And i really enjoyed the Hostel 1 & 2. I had high hopes for this one. But it didnt take long for me to see that this movie wouldnt be anything near the 2 first movies. The first mistake i think they did, was to make a different story/plot then the other 2 movies. And the story was a bit weird, and not that believable to me. And for the grapich parts. (that hostel is known for.) they did a very bad job IMO alot of place. You could you see how fake it was. (Something they did ALOT better in the first two movies.) But there was some parts that was ok in the movie. Dont get me wrong.
And the acting in this movie could be alot better too IMO.. But thats just me.

All in all, i was disappointed in this movie. With what they did with the two first movies. But if you really liked the Hostel 1 & 2, check out the trailer.
But for me, i wouldnt recommend it..

Rating - 2/6

I think sometimes they need to change the general premise in order to freshen it up. Unfortunately it usually doesn't work that well, especially with horrors. I'll check this out eventually I'm sure, but I'm not in a rush.

Welcome to the forum Piffi!

I didn't even realize there was a part 3 to Hostel.  :bag:
I have seen the trailer at some point and it actually seemed somewhat interesting (you know, for a Part 3). But bad acting (Piffi, that probably isn't jut you ;)) and even more bad effects? I'll most likely stay away fom it now.

First of all, thank you Achim! :)

And for the Hostel 3, thats what i would recommend anyways. I was a huge fan of the first two hostel movies. And i am a huge fan of Tarantinos horror work.
But in the part 3 here, i think he\they dropped the ball. They kinda ruined it for me.
But for people who liked the two first movies, and are not sure if you want to watch it or not. Watch the trailer, and remember. The trailer is lying a bit IMO.

Plot\Story:   A television reporter and cameraman follow emergency workers into a dark apartment building and are quickly locked inside with  something terrifying.

Review: Oh, spanish horror. Either your lucky and find a good horror movie. Or you find a really bad one! And this one was actually not that bad.

I  didnt have any expectations for it all. But it actually surprised me in a good way. And they have made it more like a "documentary" a
camera team, that follows firefighters at work. And then ugly things is starting to happen. That they cant explain. And you see it all trough  the pow of the camera team. And i found the movie actually enjoyable. Its not as good as Paranomal etc. But not the worst horror movie
i've seen either. And i would actually recommend this one, for the horror lovers out there.

There is a REC 2 out aswell, that i've seen. I will write a review about that one too in awhile. :)

The Quarantine movies were surprisingly good remakes IMO. Worth checking out if you haven't seen them.

btw, there's some weird formatting going on with your review.

Plot\Story: The action continues from [Rec], with the medical officer and a SWAT team outfitted with video cameras are sent into the sealed off apartment to control the situation.

Review: Well, to be a follow up, to REC. I actually enjoyed this one better then the first one. I liked how they tried to build to the story of the movie. And keep the suspence going trough out the movie. And they kept some of the actors\actresses from the first movie. Wich is a good thing IMO. And to me, this movie had a bit more twists and turns. Wich is always good in a horror movie. And i kinda liked how it ended aswell. Not the best acting, but its an highly enjoyable movie. With an interesting story to it. And if you liked the first one (REC) you have to see this one aswell.
I would recommend it highly anyways. :)

Plot/Story: Hollywood legends Rock Hudson and Doris Day light up the screen in the Academy Award®–winning* romantic comedy Pillow Talk. When uptight interior decorator Jan Morrow (Day) is forced to share a telephone party line with carefree playboy Brad Allen (Hudson), there is no connection between them. However, when the two accidently meet in person, sparks fly and the smitten Brad pretends to be a wealthy Texan, wooing Jan with late–night calls. Featuring timeless songs by Doris Day and scene-Stealing performances by Tony Randall and Thelma Ritter, this charming comedy will sweep you off your feet.

Review: Well, what can i say? I actually enjoyed the movie. A good story about it. And i liked how the movie was played out. And the actors\actresses did a great job. And is always great to see Doris Day in her prime  And for a classic movie to be. It did a good job. But there was a few things they both could and should have done better. All in all, a good movie. And with a weird love story in between. And for people who loves a good old classic from 'good' days. I recommend this one.

Blitz (2011)

Plot/Story: Detective Sergeant Tom Brant who is dispatched to take down a serial killer hell bent on killing off the police force one by one. "The Blitz" manages to slip through the grasp of Tom every time, and with the precious lives of his colleagues diminishing one by one, Tom is led to the question: if we can't protect our own, then what good are we?

My Review: Finally got time to watch a few movies today, before the big matches kicks of in the eurocup today! :)

Well, lets just start of by saying its always fun to watch Mr. Statham in a good action movie. And this time in a british movie. Havent seen much british movies with him. So that was a bit different.
Mr.Statham plays a 'dirty' kinda cop. On the hunt for a cop killer. In lets just say his methods isnt always by the books. Wich makes it more interesting. Its a good action flick. But a bit slow at times. And some of the acting in the movie, was at the top either. Statham did a good part i think. (looks like he could do it in his sleep) It was a bit different movie then i thought. But an enjoyable movie.
A movie that i recommend for those who like a good action flick.
