I just came back from watching it.
I enjoyed it, but not as much as the first one. Just as I have expected as I didn't enjoy the sequel to the comic as much as the first one.
The movie stayed fairly close to the two comic book sequels.

That is pretty much in line of the reviews I have seen so far. James King (vacation stand-in for Mark Kermode) actually pretty much disliked it. He said it's less playful than the first one and therefore the violence seemed almost nasty to him. Some viewers wrote in and said thy had enjoyed it.

I guess the good is, that now my expectations are kept in check. It's not out in Taiwan yet.

Just been to see this tonight and I agree, while I did really enjoy it, it's not as good as the first one. I don't really know what the guy means about the film being less playful so the violence is nastier, I always found the violence in both films quite morally ambiguous: especially in the first one, Big Daddy & Hit Girl are as psychotic as the criminals!
The biggest problem I had with this one was I felt it was just a rehash of the first one, it was very entertaining but they didn't try anything new, and so I didn't find it as emotionally engaging as the first one.
It's also a lot more about Hit Girl than about Kick Ass, which seemed odd for a film called Kick Ass. Not that I'm complaining (much), she's a great character, I just felt the balance was a bit off.
Overall, I think if you enjoyed the first one you will like this one, but don't expect anything special.

I haven't seen this one yet...I was going to go Friday with a friend, then that fell threw and I didn't go by myself.  We were going to go Monday, but then everything with Hayley happened, so neither one of us were feeling like a movie..especially this one.
I will see it at some point.  Just now I don't know if I'll make it to the theater or not.

Saw it earlier today.

While watching it I kept missing the style of the first one. The first one was way more light hearted, despite the violence. Somehow the mix of the imagery, the editing and the accompanying music made a perfect blend which I loved to get last in. Part 2 not so much.

But wait, maybe that's not such a bad thing? Keeping the style could have come along as an imitation, making it fail on a whole range of different levels; so I give it props for going in a new direction. Still, editing didn't didn't make it gel quite as much.

Acting is good, especially Moretz and Mintz-Plasse, but also Jim Carrey. Taylor-Johnson seemed too look too old this time around.

The film really only shines with Hit-Girl, or even while Mindy is trying not to be Hit-Girl. The other scenes had me mostly waiting or the action. I think I'll have to see it again, maybe now that I know it's different style I might be more perceptive to it.

While looking for the post credit scene on YouTube (didn't expect one and had walked out as credits rolled :slaphead:) I found an interview with the director about that scene. He addressed Tom's comment in the spoiler above:

A quick Google search confirmed what I hadn't known yet: the Kck-Ass 3 comics are already rolling out... So, I guess if the movie does well, we might get another one.

I recently reread the Hit-Girl and the Kick-Ass 2 comic after having seen the movie. I remembered the ending of Kick-Ass 2 slightly wrong.

Here is a little rant of someone displeased of the movie adaption (spoilers!). It includes the final image of the comic

. I stumbled across this rant when looking for said image to post here.

I stumbled across a review of the second comic of Kick-Ass 3 and while only flying over it read
(click to show/hide)
which obviously matches that ending. This actually makes continuing with a third movie weirder, as they have a different starting point than the book  The first movie was different, espeially in regards to Big Daddy, but they ended up in the same place. Well, I guess it's something they could correct in the first 5min...

At BoxOfficeMojo I saw that the film cost 28million and so far has made 48million. So at least with home video sales they will make their money back, meaning a third movie is possible.
