I have to admit, my interest has gone up from a 1/5 to a 2.5/5.

I love the look of this, it could be an absolute gem. Meanwhile, typical Hollywood doing their two-for-one deal again, this isn't the only Snow White this year. See also Mirror Mirror, which could be funny, if rather annoying.

My only real problem with the trailer is that it does look like so many other recent films, from the medievil actioners right through to even Twilight and the trailer for the Red Riding Hood film with Amanda Seyfried.

It has an air of quality and substance, with a hint of confidence that suggests they've hit this particular nail squarely on the head. The Twilight and Red Riding Hood trailers never made me think they were anything special and indeed that's how they turned out.

I like how they always seem to manage it to give the first "Walking-Talking Barbie" a cast at her side that makes her non-existent acting capabilities look even worse.

Seyfried, her acting can only be compared with Steven Seagal.

Interesting how the perception of movies changes over the years...

Strange... to me, this looks so fresh. And reliably old fashioned. When Del Toro was announced as director for The Hobbit, I was stoked because the thing that was missing -well, not needed to be fair- from Jackson's LotR was a fairy tale quality that The Hobbit would need and which Del Toro could do. Now he's off, I'm thinking the new film is likely to have little to offer other than another LotR.

This, is that fairy tale I was looking forward to. I know how it ends, I know it'll offer nothing really new, but it just has bags of potential.

Well, maybe partly my reaction was based on me imagining a fairy tale movie to be different to this, not quite in full on battle mode. Stardust...? Maybe if this was not Snow White I'd see it different. But still, I remember the trailer for Clash of the Titans (Titans will clash) being all exciting and you might know he that turned (I am baing this on reviews though, I asked Mark Kermode to see it I don't have to ). Or Sucker Punch...?

Well, I was never won over by the trailer for Clash of The Titans. For me, it's all about colour and variety and where Clash was clearly men in skirts yelling at CGI monsters, we know the story of Snow White has a great deal of potential for layered characters and a proper narrative, meanwhile the trailer has several different tones, which bodes well. And Sucker Punch did have an awesome trailer, but it lost it all in the plot, which you can only discover by watching it. Again, Snow White has the benefit of being a substantial story.

Did I see Ob Hoskins in there? Haven't seen him in a while.

Well, it looks very Lord of the Rings-ish, which I don't mean in a bad way. But looks isn't everything, there's gotta be a story. I am far from being sold, but at least I can pit away with mt of my previous reservations. I think my main problem still is that the title isn't program. Why not just run with the basic story but paying dues to the vast amount of modifications and additions by using a more removed title.

Not sure why you have reservations about there not being a story. It looks gorgeous, and we know there is a story, because it's one of the oldest. Hopefully people brought up on the Disney version will have a shock at how dark a fairy tale can be. I mean, it'll still be a safe, PG edition, I'm sure, but the basic content is unavoidable. We'll probably get a Hansel and Gretel next, or Jack and The Beanstalk.

I saw Mirror Mirror last week and really enjoyed it.  There are a few dark elements to the story, though it isn't that dark overall.  It is mainly fun and entertaining. 

I'll probably see Snow White and the Huntsman too.  I think it looks like it will be a lot darker.

I aw posting this morning in bed. I don't drink that early... In act, it's the iPad, not a phone. It doesn't always catch all keyboard touches and I don't always catch all instances when that happens. The mising B is a minor case of Suhr occurrences...

Unless you are teasing, isn't there an actual Jack and te Beanstalk movie on the way? From a famous director even?

Well, maybe not. I was referring to Jack the Giantkiller, assuming this would be loose retelling of the fairy tale? Directed by Bryan Singer.
