Favorite musical pieces
« on: November 14, 2011, 10:36:40 PM »
I'm sure Pete will have no interest for this one

Easy list your three favorite songs ever (I know it isn't evident)

Notice I like long song (for some very long)

1. November Rain - Guns N' Roses (not only a great song but one of the best video ever made)

2. Fates Warning - The Ivory Gate of Dreams (it's the long one ;D)

3. Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name

and a special mention for everything done by Manowar (one of the best band ever )
I could list a ton of their songs but I guess 3 will be ok

Guess who say the dialogue in the last one

Good idea!

This gets to me every time .. and Valentina Igoshina's interpretation is just divine ..

One that I can never get enough if is Mozart's Requiem Mass in D minor, especially the opening, Introitus...

as a side note - Smallville made great use of classical and opera music, but the use of Introitus during the season 3 finale montage .. that was the definition of epic!
Of course, that'd be a spoiler! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaXwX13D3RQ#t=2m47s

I don't really like heavy metal and other stuff like that, but this concert, Metallical with the San Francisco Orchestra was really out there! I loved every minute of it! I could've picked just about any songs on the album, but this one I always liked, even without the orchestra:

While I definetely like The ShowMust Go On, my choice for Queen is the way more obvious Bohemian Rhapsody:

Then there is of course the classic Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin:

And then there is Meat Loaf's epic Bat out of Hell:

I have issues with the audio card at the work computer, so I couldn't verify the audio... Issue solved.

I'm a big Queen nd Meat Loaf fan myself but since they've already been posted, I'll choose something else (it's not like I have a "top list" of songs anyway).

Being asked for your favorite musical pieces you should not shy away from repeating stuff others posted. After all, we want to know what your favorites are, not your "second favorites"... So, if there is a Queen or Meat Loaf song that would be your top choice, please let us know. I certainly am curious.

AsI said, I don't really have a favourite song per se. It always depends upon the mood I am in. But speaking in general I like music that is loud.

As for Queen, Princes of the Universe of course.

As for Meat Loaf I'd Do Anything For Love of course

And this is a favourite of mine because of the images in it and the memories it holds: http://www.megavideo.com/?v=RK64543E

Thanks, much appreciated.

Princes of the Universe is a great choice. I love that guitar solo section. "Watch that man fly", or whatever freddy says there...

Do you listen to old stuff from meat Loaf as well? Like the original Bat out of Hell? I think as a complete Album Bat out of Hell is my absolute favorite... It has several really long songs which are all quite epic in scale.

When I'm on a roll, I listen to all three Bats in a row. The third one is not as good as the first two, but it has good songs also, for example Blind As A Bat.

Outside the Bat series I especially like Couldn't Have Said It Better and Razor's Edge.

Let me see here.  It's hard for me to pick favorites..and narrow it down.  I like all different types of music...just like with movies.

Ok...I'll stop now.
