Free vacation! Where would you go?
« on: October 27, 2011, 09:41:05 PM »
I got a new spam message today that promised a round-trip ticket to anywhere I chose if I would just send a list of info about myself (which included my social security number and date of birth, duh!)

Anyway, here's the topic from that. With little thought put into it, where would you go on a round trip? How long would you stay? (Only the ticket is paid for. All other expenses are on you.)

The first thought for me was Califorina. I haven't been there (to stay) in a long time, haven't been on a vacation outside of half-a-day's driving distance in quite a while, and there is someone very special to me there who I would like to spend a week or so with.
I have a collection.
It can be found here.
No need to check it often.
I update it only twice a year!

Never go to bed mad. Sleep on the couch instead.

I would love to go Japan and take in the cultural side of things. I've been to Hong Kong a couple of times, both as a stop on the way to Australia and would love to go there properly also. I've been through my 'traveling' phase and been most places I would like to and nowhere is as good as home. :P

The place I always wanted to see is Hawaii. I would love to spend at least a week... preferably two.

We went in my mid-teens on a family holiday. Beautiful place and I would definately like to go back now I'm older so I can take it in better. Must be free flights with all the tax money they had off us?

I'd love to see Europe.  Or perhaps Alaska (I'm not afraid of the cold )

Hawaii seems like a good idea, never been.

Or New Zealand, maybe.

Difficult question.  Given the opportunity does one go for the dreamed of trip that he/she always thought of saving money for or does he/she goes for the always dreamed of adventure, that one that all dream of doing while knowing damn well we'll never do it ?

If I was offered the chance to go on any trip I want, all expenses paid, I would either go to Germany's international beer Festival (while I'm there, is it the octoberfest or are they 2 different events) or Spain (anywhere in Spain).

If I was offered cash money to go on any x weeks vacation I want, I'd buy/rent a Mercedes Unimog converted to an expedition vehicle and I'd go on a two months trip from East Coast Canada (Happy-Valley-Goose-Bay in Labrador) to as far as I can drive in North-West Alaska......................with a detour through Wood Buffalo National Park and Yellowknife.

If there was any money and time left I would rent a hotel room to wait 'til end January or early February and then try the Ice Roads in North-West territories and Alaska.

But since I know it's not gonna happen......................I guess I'll just to to bed for now and to work in 7 hours

Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando....and the studio tour thing in London for Potter once that is open.  Think that is sometime next year.

Hawaii, London, Paris....though I'll never get to any of those places with my issues with flying.

:D You've heard about this new invention?
I guess the call it ship, boat or at least something like this.
Takes significantly longer than flying but saves you from jet-lag.  :D

True..though I have claustrophia issues too...so not sure how well that would work.
Plus, I'll never have the money to go on trips like that.  Maybe I'll make it to Wizarding World of Harry Potter sometime.

In this case I would strongly advise you not to travel in a submarine.

Most people find taking an anti-anxiety medication makes them able to do things they might not otherwise be able to.

Or, if the phobias are severe, they have made great stides in helping people with their phobic issues.

My trip? I've typed and erased several places.

Hawaii was my first thought but it's become too commercialized for me.

Alaska is on my bucket list. Buffalo just experienced the Aurora Borealis last Monday but I want to see the Northern Lights in Alaska.

My father's most favorite place in the world was Spain and I would like to see the things he did.

I fell in love with New Zealand because of the LOTR. A country that beautiful with such respect for nature is one I want to see. The problem is I might not want to come home.

I think I'm going to choose Canada. I've only been been to the east coast and I want to go to Vancouver and hike the West Coast Trail.
