My top five would be:

Rear Window
Notorious
The 39 Steps

But to be honest, I find it hard to find the right place for some of those. Any but the top two could easily switch with:

Shadow Of a Doubt (his personal favourite)

Also, The Wrong Man and Lifeboat are relatively unknown, but both incredible films. If you have any interest in Neo-Realism (Bicycle Thieves, etc), watch The Wrong Man as it works as both a thriller and a realist drama.

Again, rather embarrassed by my lack of exposure to Hitchcock, having only seen three of his films but I am making amends, having added several more to my collection recently. Still to watch from my collection are Rope, North By Northwest, Vertigo, Rear Window, Family Plot, Torn Curtain, Strangers On A Train, The Wrong Man & Dial M For Murder. Would eventually like to own them all.

If it makes you feel any better, you've seen three times as much as I have (I've only seen The Birds). Zero discs in my collection, and only a mild desire to see majority of his stuff (desire to watch Psycho is slightly higher).

I'm glad to see a poll on the films of Alfred Hitchcock.  I'm not surprised since there is a long marathon of his films (mostly done in the past), though I'm now wondering if any other directors of the past will be featured.  John Ford, Howard Hawks, Otto Preminger, perhaps?

In time, yes. But any director with a huge canon will only be done once in a while, it takes a lot of work to set it up.

I'm quite tempted to blind-buy Psycho. The Blu-ray is AUD12.98 @ JB Hi-fi. Unfortunately the local library doesn't have it, so I can't do a free try-before-you-buy on it.

This is my second "retrospective" this year of a director whose movies I haven't seen for many, many years. Revisiting Eric Rohmer was exciting for me, but with Hitchcock it unfortunately felt more like a dutiful refresher course of things considered important.

An all-time classic and (IMO) even one of the best movies of all times.

A mate convinced me to grab it (I can blame you on here, and him in the real world). Gonna hold off until next Friday to watch it (Friday 13th).

"best movies of all times" tend not to be my thing. I'm more aliens and giant monsters for the most part, but I'm excited about checking out Psycho.
