ASIN to EAN converter
« on: March 29, 2011, 09:38:47 AM »
In case you're ordering from Amazon and you are interested in the real EAN/UPC of the article (e.g. for DVD Profiler).

You can find the ASIN of every Amazon item in the product details

Keep in mind that it's not necessarily the EAN/UPC of the item you will receive (re-release and so on).

For example B002AFVKY8 returns 8-715664-065129 for Amazon UK. But the DVD I got today had 8-715664-064764.

That's fine.  At least I don't have to enter it as a "Manual" profile in the meantime.

One more hint: For the american UPC you may have to remove the leading "0" to find the profile in DVDP.

Firstly: Yes I was bored.

Secondly: I was bored.

Thirdly: I was wondering if you could test my own little tool which does exactly the same as the website: http://doena-soft.de/dvdprofiler/3.6.0/AsinToEanConverter.zip

So, I guess you were really bored!   :P

Brief testing shows it to be working perfectly.

Thanks...I'll be using it!

Just in case some of you get the following error:

Code: [Select]
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Web.Services3
You'll need to install this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=9E59C3FB-E7BC-4D91-908E-411A8D329F3D

Works absolutely flawlessly so far.

For the next time you are bored I have a suggestion: This tool would be even more useful if it would be integrated into a browser-toolbar.

That's the problem. I'm not really good at the whole plugin thingy (notice that I've never written a real plugin for DVDP). My tools are all stand-alone, one-purpose-one-tool kind of applications. And browser plugins can't be written in my area of expertise, C#.
