There are nuclear power plants in the states..but I honestly don't know how many or exactly where they all are.  The one I know of sure is Three Mile Island.

I remember when I was a young boy demomstrating against the preparation of the Brokdorf Nuclear Power Plant (close to where I live). This was AFAIR 1976! Teachers, who had to convince us from nuclear power (according to the curricular), parents and (formely) friends laughed at me and called me a technical denier. And now? Sometimes I hate it to be right...

There are 104 nuclear power plants in the U.S., providing 19.6% of our power needs.  Of those, only two are in California.  Interestingly, ground has not been broken for a new reactor in the U.S. since 1974 due to government restrictions and public sentiment.

I know I remember hearing in recent years that someone wanted to build more nuclear power plants here.  I just know I wouldn't want one of those places near me.
