Remake of Conan the Barbarian starring Stargate actor Jason Mamoa as Conan, Ron Perlman as his Dad, Rachel Nichols as Tamara (bodyguard to the Queen), Steven Lang as the villain Khalar Singh and Rose McGowan.

Teaser:

Teaser was awful but I still want to see it.

I really like the way they did the teaser, but the material is clearly rubbish. Come back Arnie! All is forgiven! I read the books and the awesome comics years ago. That guy is not Conan.

I beg to differ. I can't think of a current actor that could play the role better! Are you familiar with his Stargate Atlantis character Ronon Dex? Big, quiet and bad-ass. Dex was a bit smarter than Conan but Jason Momoa could easily pull of big, quiet, dumb and bad-ass.

He's great with a sword as well.

As far as the story... does it really matter?  ;) I'm definately looking forward to this one!

I knew of the actor and thought at first he would be good, but now I see a shot from the film, and he just looks too damn clean!  You're right, story isn't hugely important, unless they go too far the other way into Hollywood formula, but mood is essential. This is the Conan I know:

That's what I need to see on screen. Filth! And blood! And sodding great dragons!

Agreed as well.

I'm still with you - except for the dragins.  ???. Seems like we are looking or the same thing. I still say Mamoa CAN pull it off. In my mind if it doesn't work it will not be the actor's fault.

That's very true. He could be great if all the other elements drop into place...
