Roger the Turtle Sitter
« on: March 06, 2011, 06:06:37 PM »
My next door neighbor just came over...at the end of the week, her family is going to Alabama and she wants me to watch her turtles while they're gone!  I did this once before.  She did mention one of the turtles (which she calls Gladiator) has grown since last time.  I don't really have to do much...they'll stay in their containers...I just have to feed them and change their water from time to time.  Has their ever been a turtle horror film?  Well, there are those Gamera movies...

Do you put them on a leash when you take them outside for a walk?

Cindy probably won't care...she didn't the first time they stayed here.  But my other cat Tadpole wasn't here yet at that point...and he's usually into everything so I won't be surprised if he at least investigates them.

No, I won't walk the turtles by leash.  Even if I did walk them, I don't think they're fast enough to get away

The turtles are here now.  My neighbor dropped them off early because they were leaving sooner than expected.  We're supposed to get 8 inches of snow and they wanted to get going before this latest blizzard hit...  :-\

It is snowing here...not sure how much accumulation.. have seen a few different forecasts...varying amounts. So I'm not sure..just know snow is coming.

Going back to this, I don't think we got nearly that much snow.  I thought my neighbors were going to be gone for about a week...but they were actually gone for two.  Next time I'm asking!  Being a cat person, I don't find turtles cuddly at all!

Turtles don't look that cuddly to me either..but like you, I'm more use to cats.  Or dogs.

Did the cats pay any attention to the turtles?

My older cat Cindy never got close enough to them to notice them.  Tadpole looked at them a couple of times but generally couldn't be bothered with them...which is probably just as well.

I hope that they aren't snapping turtles :P

I like turtles, but only to an extent. It isn't a moral issue, but I don't like "locked up" pets very much in that it seems much easier to ignore them... have them more as a novelty than a pet.
I have a collection.
It can be found here.
No need to check it often.
I update it only twice a year!

Yeah, there's that, too.  This reminds me that the pet store up at my mall has birds and they have this one really expensive Macaw.  It's been there as long as I can remember going to the store in the last 3-5 years.  They have other birds plus chinchillas, ferrets, guinea pigs and other pets.  No cats or dogs, though.

And no, those weren't snapping turtles.  If they were, I wouldn't be able to walk around in the nude.
