Topic: Rare TV/TV Oddities as Bonus Feature

I always got a kick out of it when there was some rare (seldomly if ever seen anymore) TV related show as a bonus feature to a movie or a TV Series set. For example... some that come to mind from my collection...

Time Tunnel: Vol. 2 Contains the attempted revival of the series with the 2002 TV Pilot that never aired.
Blazing Saddles has a bonus TV Pilot for a series called Black Bart. Not sure if it ever ran... and if so for how long.
The Brady Bunch: Complete Series contains 2 episodes of the cartoon The Brady Kids. This one ran for 2 seasons (22 episodes) but as far as I know they aren't ever shown on TV and these are the only 2 on DVD that I know of.

I know a lot of stuff comes with bonus episodes of the same series... or another series from the same company. And that is cool... but I am more curious about the more rare stuff that you are really likely not to see any other way.

So What else in this order is out there? I would like to add some more of these type of TV rarities to my collection.

In the Chilling Classic boxset there is an episode of Studio One Theatre (a TV show of the 50's) with all the original publicity.

The british DVD release (it's the only one) of Take an Easy Ride come with the pilot of Go Girl from the same director (Kenneth F. Rowles).

I'm sure I have some other but it's the only two I can think of right now

The first season of Greatest American Hero has an episode of an attempted new series with a woman taking Ralph's place.

Regarding "Black Bart", no, I don't think it ever made it as a series.

I believe a TV special I have on DVD done by John Wayne includes as an extra, Duke's appearance on "What's My Line?", a TV game show that ran in the 50s and 60s.

I have a 75th anniversary edition of The Lone Ranger which includes the series' first 2 seasons of shows and it includes an episode or two of an animated Lone Ranger series.

Of course several sitcoms series have included bonus episodes from a later season.

Here is another one I just remembered about in my collection...

Horror Classics 100 Movie Pack released by Mill Creek Entertainment. I haven't watched it yet... but it has something called...

Tales of Frankenstein
In this unsold television pilot from the 1950's, Dr. Frankenstein has recreated his creature, but wishes to correct his previous mistake. He wishes to prevent his creation from any further murderous rampages by placing the brain of a good man inside the skull of the monster. The arrival of a woman and her terminally ill husband offer the doctor an opportunity to try his new theory.

I haven't had the chance to complete the profile for this one yet either. But the envelope list this to be 27min long. Though that can possibly be off by a few minutes. I have seen several in this set be off by a few minutes.

My 1959 Ben-Hur DVD set also includes the 1925 "Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ". Though I have watched neither of those yet.

The anime set of "Rocket Girls" (2007) has the pilot presentation (from the 90s if I remember correctly) on it which was not picked up. It has a completely different animation style.

Unforgiven includes an episode of Maverick that Clint Eastwood had a guest spot in. I have a few audio shows dotted around from when film stories were often staged for radio with the same actors, such as Casablanca and especially on Criterions like The Third Man and ifirc, Rebecca too. Casablanca also has a Bugs Bunny cartoon version! Other Bogarts include radio shows and cartoons include To Have and Have Not (Bacall to Arms ), The Treasure of Sierra Madre and The Maltese Falcon. And that has two previous versions of the story as well!

The oddest of all has to be the Blu-Ray of L.A. Confidential. It includes a pilot of a TV series with the same characters, led by Kiefer Sutherland. Apart from it being cringe-worthy bad, it's impossible to get your head around it being the same characters as they don't logically follow the films events and yet you couldn't imagine it as a prequel either. It's like a weird alternate reality!

Made me look at my copy of Unforgiven... it seems that extra not on the R1 DVD. Oh well.

I could have sworn I had the R1 DVD, since upgraded to Blu-Ray so I sold it and couldn't check, but according to Rewind DVD, there is a standard edition and a 10th Anniversary set.

I'm guessing you don't have the double-disc set...

Nope... I just have the standard release.

I think Pete has the earlier release of Unforgiven and I probably gave it to him when I got the 2-disc version of Unforgiven.  Yes, my copy does include that Maverick release. 

Here's another...in the first season of Wanted: Dead or Alive (a western series starring Steve McQueen) they feature a couple of their episodes in colorized versions as well as in their original black & white form.

Oh see that brought one of mine to mind... want to talk about colorized... On the bonus disc of I Love Lucy: The Complete Series they had a colorized version of the episode where they go to Scotland.
