Also, I just got berated by the captain for the first! 
Completely messed up the interrogations on the "Golden Butterfly" case for some reason .. and while I know which questions I missed (because of the music clue) I have no idea what is the right answer.

Hey, me too Same case, 30min ago.

I still have trouble interpreting the music clues during interrogation you mention. Is there no music when it's wrong and music when it's right? Or is it different cues?

It's the little "ding-ding-ding" music cue after you choose the Lie, Doubt or Truth options. If it goes "ding-ding-ding" you made the right choice, if it goes "ding-ding-ding-dong" you made the wrong one.

If it's any consolation, I chose to charge him, and got berated for sloppy work. The case notes at the end didn't mention anything about what I could've missed. It just said Hugo was in his cell awaiting execution and the little girl was now an orphan.

It's the little "ding-ding-ding" music cue after you choose the Lie, Doubt or Truth options. If it goes "ding-ding-ding" you made the right choice, if it goes "ding-ding-ding-dong" you made the wrong one.

I could be off and it could be happening either way, but maybe it's because according your interview you shouldn't have charged him

I assumed you meant Hugo and you charged him, not Eli...

But here's the kicker, the game gives out 3 stars for charging Hugo .. and 5 stars for charging Eli!

So that would imply the correct suspect IS Eli .. but it just don't add up in my head with all the evidence. Why would Hugo lie so much?

In any case, unless there's a companion case later that explains it all, I just don't see how it could be this outcome.

Well, Eli is a pedo, but not necessarily a murderer. Then there is the witness who saw Hugo park his wife's car at the school (this at aleast happens if you don't charge either one. The witness happens to walk into the police station and recognizes Hugo as such.

Maybe you get rewarded for doing what's "best", which apparently is not always doing the "correct" thing. a) the captain wants you to charge Eli b) Galloway explains in the car back to the station why Eli is the better "choice". Something about Hugo not being an immediate threat to society (his crime was from passion of sorts) whereas Eli is.

How do you get Eli? The rope, presenting him the one form the trunk?

In any case, unless there's a companion case later that explains it all, I just don't see how it could be this outcome.

Well, it could turn out to be a serial killer after all and in all the cases we are "forced" to convict the wrong guys. I mean, the first three murders do look alike... (although not the same). I am not sure I would like that, though. Sure, Cole has this suspicion already, but it's not strong enough for him to act on it. It might be the "case structure" of the came stops this from coming together differently.

That's what bothers me the most about convicting Eli. There's no actual evidence linking him to anything. During his interrogation, there's not a single instance where what's expected is to show him evidence to catch him in a lie, it's all circumstantial.

For instance, the coveralls with the H.M. initials. They are Hugo's. He doesn't even deny it all that strongly. But it just happens that Eli worked at a Marine place with H.M. as the company initials, and they also issued green overalls with H.M. etched into it.

Same goes for the rope. Eli says he does tie his victims, but he has a preference for farm ropes, not marine rope. Even though he did have access to marine rope from working a marine job.

As for the butterfly brooch, Eli mentions seeing someone park the car at the school, get a change, placing the overalls in the trunk, then killing the woman. When Eli walks over to investigate, he says he finds the brooch just laying there, so he takes it.

There's no hard evidence against him. So what does Hugo do at the same time? He destroys evidence, claims the blood on his shoes is rabbit blood (which is never confirmed by the coroner before the conviction), he lies on his shoe size, he drives a chrysler which matches the tire iron (Eli doesn't have the means to even possess a car) - everything points to Hugo - yet the game wants you to bag Eli.

Guess this all goes with what I read in a review this weekend in the newspaper. They say that the biggest flaw of the game, is that your gut feeling will say one thing, but the programmers/directors/writers decided it should be something else. And it being a game, since you are rated on everything, the game makes it so there is a wrong answer. But the way it's developing, and since the game allows you to keep going, no matter who you bagged, to me, means either choice should be considered right. It's too ambiguous.

So you are not even sure how you could book him? My interrogation ended with him saying I couldn't prove anything and I had to leave.

I agree with you here. That is also why I was a bit disappointed that Cole was not able to follow up on his serial murder suspicions. Instead, he was forced to book one of the two guys currently under suspicion. In the previous case the coroner took a sample of the foot print, but I didn't get any result from that too? That may have changed that case as well... I understand there may simply be limitation what this kind of game can do (working case-by-case rather than a through line like an RPG), but it does seem to hold it back from being perfect a little.

Now I am unsure if I should replay that case right away or continue with the story first.

I really liked how yet handled that! Made much sense out of Cole feeling previously forced to make certain decisions.

I am already all through Vice, just did the last case of that yesterday. Let me just say, I did not like how that went and look forward to your opinion. But since there apparently is a bit of an overall arc I don't want to judge too early. I'll be beginning Rson today.


The open world part is fun, but by far not as satisfying as in a GAtA game or the likes. But still, driving around like a maniac for a while is hilarious; they recorded a lot of things the non-driving partner can say and eventually Cole talks back.

Did you get the Rockstar Pass to get all additional DLC? I did, as I like paging cases enough and could with some more.

Yeah I did get the pass.

You're much further ahead than I am .. I find I can't play this too long, I keep getting annoyed that I actually can't connect the dots and know what evidence to show and always end up screwing up interrogations.

And then, in the first Vice case, it took me forever, and that's with music clues and controller shake on, to find one of the clue ...

Oh, don't misunderstand. I am not ahead of you because I ace all the cases and proceed quickly, I just have enough spare time recently I still get interviews with 0/x, which I find frustrating just the same as you. I do find it rewarding to replay an interview immediately (back out of it before the save point and reload (which at least on the PS3 doesn't take more than a minute tops) the last save puts you right back in front of the interview ) and then choose a different (the correct) piece of evidence. I think I might use this method for some of the cases rather than a guide when trying to get the achievement for getting them all correct in each case. Also, I use intuition points more frequently now; seeing how you can only have five I didn't use it for a long time in the beginning I probably wasted a lot, because I wouldn't actually get new received ones

While it gets a bit more action in the end, and the street cases are a bit more action oriented, I still missed the shooter elements. So, I started playing inFamous on the side; partly in preparation for part 2 coming out next week, heck, tomorrow. Talking of which, I'll have a busy schedule then. Besides two games waiting in the drawer to be played which are till untouched as of now (Killzone 3 and Crysis 2) we have infamous 2 coming tomorrow and Duke Nukem Forever next week...

DNF has no way of living up to the expectations coming with 14 years of development. But I have such fun memories of Duke Nukem 3D that I just want to play this one... The graphics in trailers look sub-par (everything has this plastic shine to it), but in the end it's the gameplay where it's at...

I must say Arson is way better than I expected. While I am still not happy with what happened at the end of Vice, first Arson gets Cole th coole partner yet and then things get interesting... Two more cases to go for me, might finish tomorrow (then I'll go through hunting trophies).
