I got frustrated with Ninja Gaiden more times than I dare to admit. There are some ninjas that come and attack you in almost every level .. and you bet I would have to redo that fight 10-15 times .. you had to get lucky with them.

And the bosses ... oh my .. the bosses! But once you figured the pattern, it went well ;)

That partly why I prefer RPG over pretty much every other kind of games. Sure, some fights may seem impossible, but you can usually just go back, spend some time leveling, and come back later! Or just waste your hard earned gold/ruby/caps on potions ;)

That reminds me of one of my experiences with an RPG. I am not sure which game that was (possibly Borderlands; okay, not a very deep RPG), but I had apparently gone too far to a place where I was not supposed to be yet and didn't understand why I couldn't kill the enemy, seemed like a proverbial bullet sponge. Then the game explained that you would see the enemies level above their head when you hit them; they were several levels higher than me. :slaphead:

Then later the reverse. I had apparently messed up the sequence in which Borderlands was to be played so now my character was hopelessly overleveled, making enemies ridiculously easy to kill and the loot drops became laughably useless crap.

I seem to like to shoot at stuff virzually. So a pure RPG will only carry me this far. Mixtures like Fallout 3 or Mass Effect 2 agree very well with me though.

:o So other games put stuff there as well? I only caught this by accident. Willhave to change my habits then.

Well not too many do .. but the most glaring example of "you should really watch the credits 'til the end" to me was .. well either Fable or Fable II .. can't quite remember .. but one of them allowed you to keep playing and finish sidequests and stuff .. but only if you watched the overly long credits.

Tell me you watched through the Portal games, Achim? They're essential...

I remember watching them both, because I read-a-long with the lyrics (and Portal 2 had video as well). I also remember the bit after the credits in Portal. But after watching the after-credit scene for Portal 2 on YouTube I am honestly not sure if I had seen that at the time or not :bag:; it seemed familiar, but I cannot be sure :headscratch:

You never mentioned, did you complete co-op already? If not, want to try to set up a session at some point? I wouldn't mind getting at least some of those achievements and have not yet seen other friends play it.

EDIT:
A surreal feeling got hold if me earlier, when I realized I am actually holding Duke Nukem Forever in my hands. Approx. 14 years after it's announcement, finally "it's done". As mentioned before, too bad it will have a hard time holding up and almost by default it will be rather anachronistic...

Goes on a search in my old computer games yesterday and bring back Age of Empires on my computer... For a game done more than 10 years ago it's surprising how it is always addictive (even better the game doesn't lag anymore since I have more than 32 meg of memory on this computer ;D). Maybe I should reinstall Red Alert, Civilization 2 and Warcraft 2 just to see if they are always fun to play after all those years.

I'm serious those old strategy/simulation game are addictive. No awesome graphic, but the game play and the AI is what make them always good.

I tried Civ2 recently .. Couldn't get into it mostly because of the clunky interface compared to more modern versions.

But WarCraft 2 and Age of Empires held up really well.

Finished the Vice Desk today.

(click to show/hide)

I'm already well underway on the first Arson case .. one of the clue at one of the two houses you have to visit took me FOREVER to find .. actually, I didn't find it. First time I had to use an intuition point for evidence gathering.

I'd rather discuss this further only after you finished the game.

I forgot if I actually found it, but that one was definitely troublesome. Thankfully you had told me about the clue music (so did the game, but only after you told me did I actually pay attention :slaphead:), so I always pay attention to that. Trouble is, a) it doesn't cone back on after a cutscene and b) there are occasionally clues further away from the crime scene, not covered by the music :o

the clue music [..]. Trouble is, a) it doesn't cone back on after a cutscene and b) there are occasionally clues further away from the crime scene, not covered by the music :o

A) There's an easy fix. Walk far enough away from the crime scene so that the music would stop anyway .. and then come back! It should restart it should there be more clues to find.
B) If you are talking about what I think you are talking about, they are covered by the music. You were probably just hit by the music not coming back bug.

Bonus: If you want to know if you have found all clues and you are hit by the music bug - just bring up the intuition page in the notebook. The game won't let you use an intuition point for clues if you have already found all of them.

Bonus 2: Be careful about reloading a save that was made after reading a newspaper. I found out the hard way that the game doesn't actually register the clues as found - so I had to refind all the clues a second for it to register. Not too big a deal, but troublesome when you know what answers to give the neighbour, but lack the evidence to back it up because the game thinks you haven't found them yet.

Oh yeah! I also had my first "perfect" case - done completely on my own - without reloading a single time! That second arson case, about Elysian Fields, turned out to be pretty easy for me. All evidence found, all questions correct. All on my first attemps! Woohoo!

Thanks fr all the tips!

I wanted to split game time this weekend, but it got shorter than intended so I only played inFamous 2.

No, not this particular one. Hadn't it been trophy related a I would never have found it.

Well .. Game complete. Don't really know what to think.

(click to show/hide)

It's a pretty good game. I quite liked the change of pace from "standard" gaming - having to think and take your time instead of rushing through it killing everything.

Don't know if I feel like going back and getting all the collectibles (cars, film reel, landsmark, street crimes - already have all newspapers) .. maybe later, but not at this time.

Jon - I think you mentioned liking film noire before? - If so, get this. It's worth it. Especially since you've already bought a PS3.

 :voodoo:

But seriously, this is one of the games I had in mind as a good reason to have a PS3. Just waiting for a good deal on the price. £40? Erm... not just yet.

That sounds like me..I'm waiting for the price to drop to try it.  It is still $60 here...too much for a game for me.
