TV Stars in Movies

Just like everyone here... I love to watch movies. But the one thing I love even more then the movies is TV Series. I can go on and on... watching my favorite TV shows non-stop. So this weekend I am going into DVD Profiler and going to the hundreds of TV series that I collect... seeing what movies the stars has appeared in.

This gives me a huge selection of movies I could choose from (including movies I never seen before) while at the same time giving me what I think is an entertaining theme for this marathon. To give you an idea of just how huge of a list that I have to choose from... here is only a PARTIAL list of what I could watch. For the below list I just went through the stars of the TV Series that started with either a number (i.e. 21 Jump Street) or the letter A (i.e. American Gothic), B (i.e. Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or C (i.e. Charmed)... and I got the below huge list of movies.

Alien vs. Predator: Requiem I am hoping this one arrives in time to do for this weekend. It is on the way... so I am hoping it will make it by Saturday.

Matrix sequels I was kinda hoping to watch the first one again before seeing the sequels. Will have to see if there is any TV cast in the first one. But just to be safe it goes in the order of...

Vanilla Sky I bought this one right around release date. Went to post on a site that I got it (not here)... and before I got to post that I picked it up someone posted in the thread about it... the end of the movie... without a spoiler tag! I was so aggravated! I just put it up and figured I would watch it once I forgotten what I read. But guess what... years later and it still keeps popping in my memory! This is one of the reasons I have such a huge pet peeve about people not using spoiler tags.

I had a similar thing happen with the classic movie Soylent Green... that one was spoiled for me before I could even buy it! There is always someone watching an old movie for the first time people! So I strongly believe that spoiler tags are important...No matter how old the movie is!

Sorry for the rant... but to this day I still get peeved about the movies that were spoiled for me!

Problem with Soylent Green is that even if you haven't gotten it spoiled, it is referenced so often in other media that want it or not, it's gonna get spoiled one way or another.

Wrong. The correct order is:

This is because they never made any sequels. I can only assume that if they did ever make sequels to The Matrix, they would be so mind-numbingly bloody awful I would wipe their existence from my memory in an effort to protect my sanity. Thank goodness I've never had to do that!

My Thoughts:
I originally went into this movie thinking I never seen it before. But I actually have seen it before. The scary part is it wasn't even a year ago (May 2010) and I didn't remember seeing this one!?!? This movie is in the style of movies such as The Blair Witch Project and St. Francisville Experiment... which is a sub-genre that some are calling "Found Footage". So if you do not like that style of movie then this one is definitely not for you. I personally enjoy that style of movie. I wouldn't say it is the best of this type that I have seen... but I did enjoy it. First of all I did like that they had Jennifer Carpenter in this movie. Since first seeing her on Dexter I have become a fan of her's. I liked the base storyline. I liked how they had fun with Jennifer Carpenter's character's interaction with the firemen before things got serious. And there were a couple good jump scenes. At the same time I felt some of the scenes were too dark and the camera a little too shaky... though I guess these things needed to be to make it look as realistic as possible. It just made it a bit on the hard side to watch.

While I agree with Jon, that the sequels are rather terrible, I guess you'll have to see them at least once. The third one is the worst, so there is nothing to look forward to while watching the second The special effects look good, so at least it's pretty to look at at times.


As for spoilers, well, as I wrote in another thread just yesterday, a truly good film is never about the end alone and can be enjoyed even with knowledge of the ending. However, there obviously is an added element to the whole thing, if you get to experience the end as intended. I agree that crucial elements of films are never o.k. To openly discuss, as there will always be people who haven't seen the film.

My Thoughts:
I have never been much of an Ashton Kutcher fan. He is usually pretty hit and miss for me... usually more misses then hits. But I thought the plot of this movie sounded interesting... so was looking forward to giving this one a try. When I saw that the DVD had both the Theatrical Cut as well as the Director's Cut... I decided to go for the director's cut. If someone out there that seen both versions... please let me know if the Theatrical cut is any better and I will watch it the next time. But over all I am glad I watched this one today. I found the movie to be worth watching.... but not what I would call outstanding. I liked the basic storyline... and I like how it ended. I even enjoyed Ashton Kutcher in this one. Well about as much as I could... I wouldn't say he was great in the role... but definitely better then some of the stuff I have seen him in. I really liked how they handled the time travel in this one. It wasn't hard to understand at all... possibly even a little too simplified. This movie is definitely worth checking out. And I am even looking forward to checking out part 2. Who knows I may even enjoy it more without Ashton Kutcher in it this time.

I believe we briefly discussed the two different endings (which is the main difference between the two cuts) somewhere, but it was not following Tom's review, as I thought. I think I preferred the Theatrical, but others liked the Director's Cut more.

My Thoughts:
After watching part one earlier today... thought I would give part 2 a try. Especially after finding out that Erica Durance is in it. It is a good story... but I don't know. For some reason it didn't impress me as quite a much as the first one. I really didn't care for the business angle that was added to this one as much. But it is ok... worth watching for what it is. I am even considering giving part 3 a chance.

where he ends up committing suicide as a baby in his mother's womb, as he figured just meeting her anytime in life will mess her up. The other one, where he makes her not like him as a little boy makes more sense to me as for how far back he should be allowed to go and still be able to make conscious decisions. I mean, a baby committing suicide, really?
