Critter's Cinema Viewings of 2011
« on: December 31, 2010, 11:36:24 PM »
As I posted in the year end totals I went to the cinema 31 times in 2010. Let's see if I can get more than that in 2011. This thread will be for reviews, and also just to keep track of every film I see.

I'll do what I can, it can be limited in Geelong. They usually don't show anything here but the big major titles. For any of the smaller or independent films I have to travel to Melbourne.

It's not that, I'm fine with it but I don't know many people who would travel to Melbourne to see a film. And I don't see movies by myself at the cinema.

There's nothing worse than going to the cinema by yourself, I did it once and felt like the such a loser.

Although the last two times I went to the movies with my brother and his wife, I have no qualms about going by myself.  Prior to that, I usually did go by myself.  What are you going to do, have a running commentary with your friend while there?  Many people frown on that sort of thing...

I'm just very self conscious about that sort of thing. I prefer to have someone there with me.

I used to dislike going on my own, but since I started getting more preview tickets for awkward, unsociable times, I don't give quite so much of a damn. ;)

I've never seen a movie by myself at the cinema. I probably will eventually, it just hasn't happened yet.

I always lived in (relatively) large cities where quite a lot of people go to the cinema alone. So if your in the mood for company, you can always hit on a hot chick (or guy) afterwards.

I go to the movies by myself at times.  I use to not want to do that, but I decided I didn't care anymore.  If there is a movie I want to see, I'll go.

He he do it more often. I do it myself most of the time these days. It does have its advantages. The ability to practically sprint out of the cinema immediately while the 200 people behind me slowly ease themselves out of the chair, not having to buy the friend/s their food, being able to choose what movie I wanna watch without worrying if they will be grateful sods or annoying, ungrateful swine who happen to possess an alternating opinion from mine  ;D etc.

But like you said it does have it's drawbacks- especially in kids movies. Oh how much I hate being alone in kids movies. Between the kids crying and the teenagers up front.....

I have no issues with going to the cinema myself. While in there, we are not supposed to have a conversation anyway and the way there and back I an easily manage myself. Of course, going with someone else offers the opportunity to talk about the movie afterwards, if one fees incline to do so.

Depending on who I've gone to a movie with, I would have enjoyed it more going by myself.
I did see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 with a friend the second time I saw it.  The theater was almost empty, but he kept asking me questions..wanting me to explain everything.  That's not an enjoyable movie experience for me.  Now I'm not sure I want to see any more with him.  He claims he only did that because there were only 2 others in there far away from where we sat, but I don't know.
