After I looked up the filmography of Aoi Miyazaki, who I enjoyed in "Heavenly Forest" and "NANA", I came across "Virgin Snow" and "Flowers in the Shadow". They sound like movies I would enjoy. They will be part of my next YesAsia order, which will be in a week or so at the earliest. I don't want to take the chance that it arrives while I am abroad for a week for work in the second week of January.

Another one I will buy, which has just been released on DVD in Hong Kong, is Time Traveller, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. It could also be interesting to some of you, who had followed by recommendation for the anime movie "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time". There is also a Region A Blu-ray release, which sadly won't play on my player.
This time it's the recent live-action movie (the original novel had a lot of adaptions through the years). This one now seems to be a sequel to the novel, with the daughter of the protagonist of the novel in the lead. The anime was also a kind of a sequel as the girl there was the niece of the original character. Even though the new movie has nothing to do with the 2006 anime movie, it stars the voice actress of the girl from the anime. Looking at her filmography at IMDb, the anime movie was her very first role.

Nobody Knows
I thinkn it was Jimmy who originally mentioned Nobody Knows? I bought it after seeing it talked about on this forum and liked it very much.

Hmmm, not sure why I connected it with Jimmy then, but that was indeed the review I was thinking of. Thanks for finding it, Tom.

As you may have noticed, I am currently in a roll watching Asian romantic movies.
Can anyone recommend me further Asian romantic comedies or dramas (preferably Japanese or Korean)?

I kind of reviewed a couple of films that fit your parameters here

These caught my eye when amazn UK were banging them out cheap

Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter... and Spring
Samaritan Girl
The Isle

All Korean dramas

I haven't seen Spring, Summer........so can't comment,  but Samaritan Girl and The Isle are not what I would class as romantic comedies. Both very good films, though. In a similar vein to these is Bad Guy, also really good.

My Sassy Girl?, have a look at my collection, I have a few Korean films so there is every chance that you can see something that strikes your fancy.

Thanks!

From the referenced thread I see "...ing" (which I have now put into my shopping cart), and "200 Pound Beauty" (which I already have).
"My Sassy Girl" I also have. I will browse through your collection now :)

Tom, have you watched your copy of Shall we Dansu? yet? That will tie nicely in as a gentle romanitic film with a comedic touch to it.

Yes, I watched it soon after I had bought it. I didn't write a review but I have given it a rating of 4 ().

I loved Bad Guy though most people I come across tend to dislike this the most from his work whilst personally I couldn't get into The Isle all that much. Was disappointed with that one.

Another film I'd like to recommend for a laugh (though not really what you're looking for) is Dasepo Naughty Girls.

As I generally enjoy Japanese music, and as you know I enjoy musicals, I can't believe that I do not have a single Japanese musical in my collection. As a matter of fact I don't even know about a single one. So my question: Does anyone know of a (good) Japanese musical movie? It even can be an anime. I like those, too.

Possibly best to contact Taro on this.
Even though he might currently not be in the right mood to answer this question.

I have no clue about (Japanese) musicals, but I found this:

Elisabeth

Would that be interesting?

This as a movie would be interesting. It seems currently it is only available on DVD with the songs standalone (without context) in Japanese without translated subtitles. I would be interested in a Sissi musical even if it wasn't Japanese
Sadly the German original also mentioned on that site is too expensive for a blind buy (€36 on amazon.de).
