Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 Motion Comic
« on: January 01, 2011, 08:59:25 PM »
OK... I am going to have to get this. I never was able to see the comic books... but motion Comics for season eight is coming to Blu-ray & DVD on the 4th of this month... just 3 days from now.

Buffy: Season 8 Motion Comics @ Amazon

Too bad I just made a second order for today... I can't see spending any more money now. But it will be in my next month order with any luck.

What exactly is a motion comic?

Something I am not sure if I will like or not... but I still want to check it out. Basically still images with voices changing the still images with the story the voices tell you. If you click on the link for Amazon in the first post they have a couple video clips.

More like very limited movement instead of no movement.

Oh, Pete, no! Just get the proper comics. Motion comics are awful. Truly, deeply poor. :yucky: It's an insult to a comic artist. Just cancel the damn thing and get volume 1 of the collected edition.

Karsten, imagine taking a comic panel, cutting it to pieces and sliding them around. That's a motion comic...  ???

I didn't order it yet... but probably next month. As I have said... I am not a reader. If I can get it where I don't have to read it that is a big bonus to me. I checked out a clip or two and it didn't look too bad to me. As for it being an insult to the comic artist... all I can say is sorry. It is what it is.

You don't have to apologise! I'm sorry I came on strong. It's just as someone who has always read comics, I can't help but see this weird hybrid as basically money grabbing crap and I don't want you to waste your cash. I found the clips in a trailer heavily edited and I reckon they will be misleading. Personally, I got a headache after watching one that was an extra on a DVD once! Can't remember which.

Why don't you like reading though? I honestly think a motion comic will frustrate you, because it isn't animated enough to be animation.

Jon - are you ready to take some more blame? Especially since I'm taking a bug leap of faith here?

I just ordered all 8 volumes of the Buffy Season 8 comics - including the one that's coming out next June! Hope I like it.. at least its got Joss' seal of approval

(as opposed to some upcoming movie some might have heard about  :yucky:)

Do you normally like comics, Sébastien? I have to say I found the earlier Buffy comics a little weak, but I haven't tried season 8 yet, so no, I can't take the blame!  :tease:

Sure you can.  You get the blame for everything else. :)

By the way...my DVR is completely, 100% full now.  So no room to try Primeval right now.

Actually, that's the thing. I don't usually like comics. But for Buffy, actually scripted by Joss? I'm willing to give it a fair chance, and will read it from beginning to end.

...but motion Comics for season eight is coming to Blu-ray & DVD on the 4th of this month...

This seems to be Fox' way of ripping off both fans and artists. Despite the packaging suggesting otherwise, this is only half of S8. And apparently the original comic artists and writers don't get paid any royalties from it.

Half!?!?! I guess I should have read it better. But you would have thought there would have been some sort of indicator in the title. Thanks for the heads up.
