Battlestar Galactica Question
« on: December 25, 2010, 08:27:42 PM »
I was looking into the Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series set I got today. From what I was reading... even though it used to... this set no longer comes with the TV Movie The Plan.

Where does this movie take place in the storyline? Does it need to be watched between seasons? Basically what is the deal with this TV Movie? Do I need to hurry up and order it before getting too far into the series?

If I'm not mistaken, you should watch The Plan after the whole series. It basically fills some elements, as seen from the Cylons' point of view.

This set does contain the movie Pete so don't order it until you double check.

Edit - Thanks for the info Sébastien. I ordered this set for my self too and had no idea of the watching order. Where does Razor fit into the mix?

After seeing this... the friend that sent me this gift PM's me and let me know how The Plan is supposed to be in this set... that it is how it was advertised and such. This made  me look into the set closer. The packaging says it is a 25 Disc Set... and no mention of the Plan anywhere. Here is the Overview from my set... at the bottom of the case...

So I go through the discs one at a time...

Season 1 = 5 Discs
Season 2 = 6 Discs (3 for Season 2.0 and 3 for Season 2.5)
Season 3 = 6 Discs
Season 4 = 9 Discs (4 for Season 2.0, The Plan [included in the 4.0 Disc 4 case] and 4 for Season 4.5)
Total = 26 Discs!

Needless to say... I am thrilled to death that it is a misprint on the case... and I do NOT need to buy The Plan. But wow! what an odd and confusing thing. I am glad that the PM made me double check all the cases as it is hidden away among the discs. I could have easily bought the thing without even realizing I already had it!  :P

And while looking up the info... If I am correct The Plan seems to be the last thing I want to watch. So it also seems odd the disc is hidden right smack in the middle of Season 4... makes you think it should be watched between Seasons 4.0 and 4.5!

Thanks! You both posted as I was making the above post. That fits with what I was able to find out... Odd that they have the disc with the season 4.0  last disc... before season 4.5!

Thanks Kathy...
I would think Razor belongs between season 3 and 4 going by the placement of the disc... but what with The Plan's placement... I won't say that for sure!

Razor tells the story of Battlestar Pegasus prior to it meeting up with Galactica. Thing is, I don't remember when that happens. So while you are watching the series, whichever season introduces Battlestar Pegasus, Razor fits right after that season.

Just checked my sets. Razor is included on Disc 1 of Season 4.0 - so I guess Razor should be watched after Season 3.

Here's a watching order timeline for Galactica that looks about right.
http://thunderpeel2001.blogspot.com/2010/02/battlestar-galactica-viewing-order.html

It makes suggestions are to when you should watch things, and even "preferable" moments, even though they were broadcast at another place (like watching The Plan in the middle of Season 4.5 and Razor at the end of Season 2 instead of Season 3).

Thanks Sébastien  :)

I will probably go with airdate order the first time (as you would have seen it if watched original airing)... and save this link for second viewing!

Interesting link.... Thanks again!

Has anyone here checked this show out?...

Caprica
An entire TV show(!) set 58 years before the events of Battlestar Galactica, and revealing the events surrounding the creation of the Cylons. (Although it's worth noting that you don't have to have seen BSG to watch Caprica.)

If I like this series I may have to get Caprica next. :)

I saw some of Caprica and was liking it...without having seen Battlestar Galactica.  But I got behind in watching and never caught up.

I heard about Caprica and got really excited about it. Then it started airing. Then it got cancelled. Don't know if I still want to see it.

Oh ok... so Caprica didn't last long? Well that is ok... be cheaper to get the complete series! :tease:

Seriously though... I still give short lived series a chance. I have seen some great ones that is beyond me why they didn't make it.

Yeah I know. My comment was somewhat tongue in cheek. I'll get Caprica at some point down the line. I'm just not the in same "hurry" I was a while back.

After all, I just got into Dexter, Fringe, Bones, Doctor Who, Torchwood, True Blood... and as far as I know, they're all still airing, and on some, I am way behind! ;)

Caprica lasted a full season with a lot of questions still needing answers, but a lot of others that were answered.

I enjoyed and was looking forward to a second season, but alas that is not to be.
I think that the thing I liked most was the costuming and set design. You could definatley tell when comparing BSG and Caprica that they were from the same universe and that logically architecture and fashions would proceed as they did, unlike in Enterprise.
