One thing that concerned me is that I dropped the older TV when I was bringing it in...it only a dropped an inch or two but I worried I might have busted it.  I just hooked my GameCube to it and fired it up, though, and it is working fine.  So unless billows of smoke start to come out of the TV, it'll be fine (knock on plastic)...

A few years ago my late neighbour knocked his 28" widescreen CRT off its stand while it was on. It crashed 2-3ft onto the floor, screen first. Being in his 80s, he didn't try and move it alone. My mum came to help him and said they lifted it back up and it was still playing, absolutely fine! He just carried on watching it...

Over the coming weeks, it did start to fail, but I found it was the scart connectors on the back that had been damaged by still being connected when it fell. The screen was fine, so they're more durable than you think.

And yes, the flat screens are significantly lighter. I can move my 42" around myself very easily, while the 32" was an evil monster with a grudge against me.

Well, I've set it up so it's up and running now.  I haven't really watched anything other than to check it out for a few minutes.  I think I'm really too tired to watch anything tonight.  But it's ready when I am...

I'm glad you got it hooked up.  Those older tvs weight a ton.  I helped my step dad when they got a 32 inch one I think it is for the family room...that was horrible to move.  They eventually want a flat screen out there....I don't want to think about moving that old one.  Though my one friend would help with that now.

I use to have a 74cm widescreen TV in my study before getting a flat screen.
It was a German built Loewe TV. That thing weighed at least 50kg, it was a monster!

My step dad and a friend moved the old 32 inch tv a few months ago...in an entertainment center thing...they both say that they will never move that thing again.

Well, my set is a 27-inch set so it may have been a bit lighter...but then, I was moving it by myself...

Those type of sets weigh a ton, even for the smaller ones.

Maybe tomorrow I'll look on the back and see if there's a model number.  Then I might do a search to see if I can find info on it, including the weight.

Have you watched any Blu-rays on your new tv yet?

No, not yet.  I still need to set up my remote with my PS3.  But I hope to get around to it this week.
