Harry Potter as in the character played by Noah Hathaway from the movie Troll?

No, we are clearly talking about the Channel 9 news reporter.

You know what shocks me about Harry Potter? Is that they had the nerve to put Hitler in those movies. They don't actually call this guy Hitler, but I know Hitler when I see him.

Yes Voldemort is similar to Hitler in many ways. Like Hitler if he had the power to do just about anything... a very scary thought indeed.

Actually I'm talking about the guy who physically looks like Hitler. I think he’s quite obvious. I've not really into Harry Potter, so terrible when it comes to the character's names but this guy made his first appearance in the fourth movie. I think he has a son and I think he works for the school.

You mean the character Barty Crouch sr., played by Roger Lloyd-Pack

BTW, his son, Barty Crouch jr., was played by a certain David Tennant - more commonly referred to as "The Doctor":

That was probably Barty Crouch...I think is his name.

I know the movies are meant for entertainment and I do enjoy them overall.
I know people who haven't read the books and have only seen the movies...and they feel like there are some holes in the stories..things not explained enough.
A lot of the magic and wonder of the books has been striped slowly away as the movies have continued.  I do think the movies are good..even the ones by Yates.  But I think they could have been better.  He has just screwed up some very important details.  And that bugs me.

I know I'm not as...objective about Harry Potter.  It is probably more Harry Potter fan than movie fan. :)

And I still say David Yates was not a good choice in directing any of the movies.

Ok...I have to stop now.  I have to get up early for work and I need more sleep than I've gotten the last few nights.  I have other issues, several of which go back to Order of the Phoenix.  I might point them out here eventually...or start a new thread just for that. Or maybe I'll be back later if I can't sleep.

This discussion actually proves Jon right

Since the movie cannot satisfy every fan (unless there wold be 12 or more films for the 7 books), it's best to ignore such thoughts altogether and try to make the best film possible.

IIRC at least for the first films Rowling always "proof-read" the scripts, so that all infomration needed for the later films was there and correctly so. I doubt they abondoned that concept and just ran wild.

I liked Potter 6 for being a rather quiet film that concentrated on the characters a lot. Maybe it helps that at that point it had been some time since I read the books. :hmmmm:

Okay, it's 3:00AM and I just got back from the cinema. The place was packed, and lots of people dressed as witches and wizards etc. Very fun atmosphere, and WOW, what a movie.
 :yahoo:

Although with the conversation going on here, I actually feel sorry for Jon a little bit. This film more than any others is for the readers of the books, not for people who just watch the films. It felt like it was made solely for the people who have all the details of the books in their minds, and if they haven't read them well, it's just their loss and there will be a lot of unexplained details. And I mean A LOT. As a personal lover of the books however, and someone who has read each of them multiple times, some even up to 10 or 11 times I can say I loved every second of this.

I'm still very much on a high from seeing this film, it was fantastic! I have been waiting years to see some of those scenes in particular and was not disappointed at all. I'm already planning to see it again, maybe this weekend.

I'll probably write a review soon, but I need to get my head around it first (and sleep probably, although I think I'm still on too much of a buzz to do that right now).

Rowling may have approved things..and I know she insisted on Kreacher being in 5, but there are still little details that were cut that shouldn't have been.

It is like they are making the assumption that everyone who sees the movies will have already read the books, so it doesn't matter if they skip this bit or that because people will already know.

I'm at a stage where I honestly don't care what they cut from the book. It's a hell of a big task and I would find it absolutely impossible to figure out what to cut and what to keep and I think they do a fantastic job of it. Yes this film is pretty much just for people who have read the books, but who cares? How many people in this day and age haven't read the books. It was an amazing atmosphere in the cinema and part of that was because you could tell that everyone in the packed cinema had read them. The whole audience would whimper slightly when they knew something sad was coming, they would sit further back in their chairs when a scary part was coming up etc etc. It was great feeling that anticipation from people who knew what was coming, but were loving every minute of it anyway.

No I didn't. There were a lot more people in casual clothes than there were dressed up. My friend did wear a t-shirt with the Deathly Hallows symbol on it though.

Well, it also gives trouble to people who have read the book, but did so when it was released and haven't read it since;)

I am sure it'll sit alright with me anyway :)

I hope you enjoy it Achim! It was very much worth only having 3 hours of sleep and then going to work all day. I'm currently in a sort of sleep-deprived delusional state, but it was so worth it!
