Help me Decide - This weekend's marathon
« on: November 11, 2010, 09:04:18 PM »
I feel like doing a themed marathon this weekend but I just can't think of a good theme. Unfortunately I start my movie marathon tomorrow... so don't have much time to decide.

Here is 3 different themes I been thinking about...

TV Stars in Movies
This is always one I enjoy doing. And it has a big plus of there being literally hundreds of movies in my collection I can choose from and stay within the theme. The down side is that there is so many movies I have to choose from it is almost like not having a theme at all.

DC Universe Marathon
A while back ago I had a Marvel movie marathon... where I watched some of what I have from the Marvel universe. I really enjoyed it at the time. And it is always fun watching Superhero movies. If I choose this... I could watch...

- Batman
- Batman Returns
- Batman Forever
- Batman & Robin
- Batman and Robin (1949 Serial)
- Batman (1943 Serial)
- Batman Begins
- Batman: Gotham Knights
- Batman: The Movie (1966 Adam West)
- Catwoman
- The Dark Knight
- The Green Lantern
- Justice League: The New Frontier
- Supergirl
- Superman
- Superman 2
- Superman 3
- Superman 4: Quest for Peace
- Superman Batman: Public Enemies
- Superman Returns
- Superman: Doomsday
- Superman: Brainiac Attacks
- Superman Movie serial Collection (2 Serials)
- Watchmen
- Wonder Woman

Alfred Hitchcock
I recently got a boxset of a lot of his early work that I haven't watched yet. The down side is I am not sure I can handle a whole weekend of nothing but old black and white movies. Don't get me wrong... I really enjoy his work... I just think it would be hard for me to watch it non-stop for a whole weekend... as I normally have to be in the mood for such things.

But if I was to decide on this I could choose...
Titles I never seen are in BOLD...

- The Birds (1963)
- Blackmail (1929)
- Champagne (1928)
- Easy Virtue (1928)
- The Farmer's Wife (1928)
- Jamaica Inn (1939)
- Juno and the Paycock (1930)
- The Lady Vanishes (1938)
- The Lodger (1926)
- The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934)
- Manxman (1929)
- Number Seventeen (1932)
- Psycho (1960)
- Rear Window (1954)
- Rich and Strange (1932)
- The Ring (1926)
- Sabotage (1936)
- Secret Agent (1936)
- Skin Game (1931)
- Thirty-Nine Steps (1935)
- Young and Innocent (1937)

Right now I really not sure I could do the Hitchcock one as I really have to be in the mood for the classic/old movies to watch them.

But what I really need... is some new ideas of themes that I could do... so what you say... throw out some ideas of themes for me?

I don't know if you have many of those, but how about a time-travel movie marathon?
I see that you have at least the Back to the Future trilogy and the Time Machine remake. And there is also Star Trek 4,8 and 11.

I'd be happy with the DC Universe one.

Time Travel sounds interesting... though I wouldn't want to watch the Star Trek movies over again this soon. So that would leave me...

- Back to the Future
- Back to the Future 2
- Back to the Future 3
- Cave Girl
- Terminator
- Terminator 2 (Was there time travel in Terminator 3? I forget)
- Time Machine
- Time Travelers (TV Movie)
- Twelve Monkeys
- Planet of the Apes (1968)
- Planet of the Apes (2001)
- Warlock

These I am not sure about (listed at IMDB under keyword Time-travel)
- Donnie Darko
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
- Galaxy Quest
- Stargate (I know there was portal... but time travel? I forget)
- Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me
- The Family Man
- Austin Powers in Goldmember
- 13 Going on 30 (I Know the movie... just don't know if I consider it time travel)
- Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
- Freejack
- Lost in Space
- Unholy
- Land of the Lost (once again.. consider it time travel? more like alternate dimension?)

and hey... I could watch the episodes of Time Tunnel between the movies. :)

- Terminator 2 (Was there time travel in Terminator 3? I forget)
Yes. Like in T2 two Terminators travel back in time to the present.

Quote
These I am not sure about (listed at IMDB under keyword Time-travel)
- Donnie Darko yes
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Of what I have heard. Haven't seen it though.
- Galaxy Quest If you count a 13 second time jump as time-travel
- Stargate (I know there was portal... but time travel? I forget) Don't remember.
- Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me yes
- The Family Man could count. It's a "what if" story, where Nicolas Cage gets to relive a time in his past
- Austin Powers in Goldmember yes
- 13 Going on 30 (I Know the movie... just don't know if I consider it time travel) maybe
- Lara Croft: Tomb Raider don't know
- Freejack don't know
- Lost in Space don't know
- Unholy don't know
- Land of the Lost (once again.. consider it time travel? more like alternate dimension?) don't know

BTW... I know the first Planet of the Apes movie has time travel... but I forget... what about the sequels? I know they take place in the futuristic world... but is there actual time travel? I can't remember if there was new astronauts in them all or how it worked.

If you felt like watching some TV shows too, you could throw in a few episodes of Sliders.

Yeah... but think I would rather watch episodes of Time Tunnel since I never seen most those before.... I seen all of Sliders. Besides... sliders is same time different dimension. Though I know it could seem like time travel in some episodes.

At least the third one ("Escape from the Planet of the Apes") has time-travel, where the apes travel back in time to our present.

How about a marathon of reading books for a change? :tease:
I have a collection.
It can be found here.
No need to check it often.
I update it only twice a year!

I don't do books! :P

for some reason every time I start a book it almost instantly makes my eyes tired and I am asleep in no time. I do reference books more then anything else. The rest... I will wait for the movie!  :tease:
