Meaning of Your Avatar
« on: October 28, 2010, 05:38:34 AM »
What does your avatar say about you, if anything.

I decided to change mine even though I've been here only a couple of days.

The old one was a series of rigid squares of different colors looping in and out of each other. The point being it is an optical illusion and is not possible in reality. My current one (intentionally tiny because it wouldn't be as much of a challenge otherwise) is a maze in case you couldn't tell.

They both hold significance to me as two things that I deeply enjoy. I have been collecting studying illusion art for years, do magic, create mazes, work Sudoku and dozens of other types of puzzles, create graphics, write poetry, create programs, design webpages (well, I used to anyway), dabble in photography and music creation, and ponder insignificant things that have no real answer.

This is all because I enjoy a challenge usually without the pressures of time constraints which would turn them into more of a job than a bunch of hobbies.
I have a collection.
It can be found here.
No need to check it often.
I update it only twice a year!

I change mine constantly so it means nothing. Usually it's a girl...
My actual one is the first image appearing in a movie I've appreciated greatly and it fits well with the october theme.

I liked Sweeney Todd...so I went with that.  I haven't changed it since I joined.  I've thought about it, but so far I haven't.  I like this one.

Mine is actually a photo of me...with one of my two cats, Cindy.  I have thought about changing it...I have another photo of myself with Cindy I like better and may use that.  Perhaps someday my other cat Tadpole will sneak into my avatar...

I look a lot like my avatar, especially when people with ridiculous change requests come to me.

I've changed my Avatar quite a few times. Right now it's the promo shot of Abbie Cornish from Zack Snyders upcoming film Sucker Punch. I suppose I just chose it because I think she's hot, and she's also an Australian actor which I think is cool. Also the bonus to using material from Sucker Punch this early is that I can change it before the film actually comes out... in case it's crap.

Oh, it also has a Dragon in it. And as many as you know, I like dragons.

Here is the actual image:

I've changed my Avatar quite a few times.

I think I've changed mine only once in the past. But this thread prompted me to do it again. Not sure if it will stick as it is not actually movie-related.
Previous one was from Nina Paley's Sita Sings the Blues:

My avatar is the Chinese character for "sheep". (For those who know me on PSN will know I also use a sheep as avatar there).

In the Chinese horoscope I was born in the year of the Sheep. I do, however, not believe in horsocope, despite being a rather "typical" libra.

Mine is my 3 year old Bearded Collie named "Bo"

Since I have three dogs this will change to
a) 6 year old Collie named "Ernie" (my previous avatar)
b) 2 year old Collie named "Prince" (no, I wasn't involved in this name, I would have named him "Bert" for some reason. But wasn't allowed to do so)

Mine is a still from Porco Rosso. There were a number of stills from the films of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli on the Optimum Releasing Website so I grabbed them, but I seemed to have lost most of them with changes of computer :(. This one I thought looked the best.

My first and only other avatar was of a circle of sleeping puppies. But, the picture was so small it was difficult to see them as clearly as I hoped.

So, a friend of mine sent me this picture of a baby panda and I loved him so he became my avatar.
