The Osbournes
« on: August 19, 2010, 02:51:38 AM »
Yes... I opened a thread about Ozzy Osbourne. Don't look so shocked!  :tease:

I was just looking at the intro for The Osbournes... since season 1 was sent to me. My brother would have disowned me if I didn't take that one... to him Ozzy is God.  And as soon as he seen that set on the list of offered DVDs he told me... you are saying yes!

Anyway... after that I checked out the intro to the series...

And after seeing that intro... and hearing him talk... I have to ask... How does anyone understand what he is saying!?!?!

when this show first started myself and my mother would watch it every week we really liked it.... we mainly said stuff like "this cant be real" ....and "those kids are messed up" ...

I never watched the second series and i dont know if there was another after that... but, I enjoyed it enough to buy the DVD when it was first released :p I haven't watched it since...

;p I dont think you can really understand Ozzy sometimes Pete... subtitles are great on DVDs  :tease:

He talks...?

But seriously, I have seen a few episodes before and thought it was fun. Ozzy is an icon and it's cool that he did this. Obviously(?) it's mostly staged, but it's still fun. On the other hand, it's kind of sad to see how his brain apparently got a bit mushy over the years. I am a fan of Sharon though.

There is one line that Ozzy says that pretty much sums up the show, and also shows how great he is.

Quote from: Ozzy
I love you all but you're all fucking crazy.

I saw Sharon on a season of Celebrity Apprentice. Liked her on that. But now seeing how Ozzy talks... I think I would have rather seen HIM on Apprentice... Could you imagine Donald Trump trying to understand him in the board room?  :P

Now... is this show (The Osbournes) just about their home life? Is there much music involved? Is this a set that is destined to start my brother's DVD collection? :P

I've never watched any of this series. I have enough trouble understanding that foreign language that family speaks without trying to figure out what Ozzie is saying!

Very little music, Pete, it is just their home life. Ozzy is a "Brummie"! From Birmingham, I mean, so no. No-one understands him!   To be fair, he is a heck of a lot better now.

I remember a comment sometime ago about why he was so bad on the show (he claims he was stoned all the time!) and that he was on the wrong medication. I think they found out he was suffering a tremor condition related to Parkinson's and once they started treating that correctly, he improved immeasurably. He's got a new album out, he's touring, he just seems like a different guy.

My mum has a dreadful tremor condition called Essential or Familial Tremor, along with Dystonia. The only drugs that can help are Beta Blockers, which make you slow, stupid, forgetful and you slur. My mum doesn't even take any because they scare her; she can control it better with wine of all things. So I can absolutely believe either that he was pissed all the time or on the wrong tablets.

This is recent I think...

My favourite clip from the series has to be him trying to open a DVD! I hate the US security stickers too.  :hysterical:

There is some music in it. I can only recall one episode when they're rehersing before a tour.

Is that the same one as where he then has to work out how to use the remote that controls practically everything in the house?

If so that clip is at the beginning of the intro I posted in the first post. I did get a good chuckle out of that.

I watched the show sometimes when it was on.  I usually couldn't understand a word Ozzie was saying, but it was entertaining in a twisted way.

I think I remember when he couldn't open the DVD..I know I remember the trouble he had with the remote.

I also remember a time - a later season I think - when they get new neighbors that bug them...if I remember right, Sharon threw a log or something over the wall.     Sharon was more of a loon than Ozzie about that.

I just popped in disc 1 and watched the very first episode. This is the first time really seeing anything with Ozzy Osbourne... though I have seen his wife in some other shows. I must say... Ozzy could be a good comedian (if he could talk so everyone understands him). I laughed at several things he did/said.

Also must say... Thank God for the Ozzy Translator! It is a feature on the discs where you can turn on subtitles for only what Ozzy says.  :P I found that to be pretty useful!

This really isn't a show I could watch episode after episode. But it is definitely good for a few laughs every now and then!

Too bad that not all his children agree to be on the show, since he had another girl (the first from he and Sharon) who isn't a retard.

The fact that she is more normal and stable - I think I saw her once - is probably exactly why she didn't want to be on the show.  From the little I have seen of her, she seems to be the most stable one in the family.
