TV Time-Travel Marathon

Instead of doing Weekend Marathons dedicated to time-travel episodes, I will do a continuing marathon for those and alternate realities TV episodes.

Alternate Reality
My Name Is Earl
Bad Karma: An Earl Misadventure

A bonus episode on the first season's DVD set. A retelling of the pilot episode: Instead of seeing Carson Daly talking about karma on TV, he sees Stewie from Family Guy talking about vengeance. A fun little episode playing with the premise of the series.

I see that you have a lot of Star Trek seasons in your collection, good luck with that.

Wanna have a list with ST time travel episodes? :D

Initially I had planned a separate Star Trek time-travel marathon, but I decided to make one long on-going marathon instead.

Thanks, but I think I will remember most of these as they were always my favorite kind of episodes  :D
Over ten years ago I even had the Star Trek TNG Time-Travel collection VHS boxset

Time-Travel/Alternate Reality
Red Dwarf
Tikka to Ride

A fine example of why Red Dwarf was a great series.

By traveling to the past, the Red Dwarf crew accidentally prevent the assassination of JFK. This results in a major crisis for the future of the US, as JFK's affairs became public knowledge during his presidency and was impeached. Edgar J. Hoover became president, but was controlled by the Mafia because they had pictures of him cross-dressing.
Now the Red Dwarf crew has to put things right and we learn, who the second gunman was:

Marvellous start! I loved that idea. Especially the bit where they make Oswald go to another floor and then he hadn't got the right angle for the shot! You could make a mini Red Dwarf marathon from all their time travel and alternative realities...  :tease:

Alternate Reality
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The Wish

Cordelia wishes from Anya (in her first appearance on the series), that Buffy never came to Sunnydale. The result: Vampire Willow :) and Vampire Xander. And the Master is still alive and ruling over Sunnydale.
A fun What-If episode, which resulted in the even better Doppelgangland episode (which will follow later in this marathon).

Time-Travel
Star Trek: The Next Generation
Cause and Effect

This episode starts with the destruction of the Enterprise followed by the Opening credits. What follows is Star Trek meets Groundhog Day. The crew relives the same few hours leading up to the destruction to the Enterprise again and again without remembering the previous loops. Only a feeling of deja vu follows the crew. In the end they manage to send a message to the beginning of the loop and they manage avoid the destruction of the Enterprise (caused by the collision with another starship which was trapped in the loop for about 90 years) and by this breaking the loop.

That part always buggered me. How could the other sip be trapped for 90 years and the Enterprise only for 3(?) weeks. What caused the loop to restart before the arrival of the Enterprise?

But on the other hand time is relative. ;)

That was also the question I asked myself. My theory is, that the arrival of the Enterprise is the cause why the other ship finally could leave the loop (why it started for that ship in the first place is not really relevant. It's the anomalies fault). But the collition did throw both ship back into the loop. For the other ship a new loop started therefore.

What?

I think you meant "bugged me". Jon, being British, has definetely a specific association with you using "bugger" in this context ;)
