Who saw Jackie on Jonathan Ross' last show tonight? His English is still re-assuringly poor, but that just made his anecdotes funnier, especially when talking about his injuries! He just rattled through them... "Skull, eye, cheek, nose, nose, lip", then got to his ribs and just counted through, "crack, crack, crack, crack".  Apparently he can no longer get insurance for stunt work, mind you, he is getting on a bit anyway. He could still kick your ass though. They clearly tried to setup part of the set for him to smash and while it wouldn't quite break, you could feel the weight/quality of his strike compared to Ross who had a go and almost broke his hand!

Chan is such a nice bloke though. True superstar.

I've seen different interviews with Jackie Chan since he started becoming more popular over here...The first ones were before Rush Hour...I can't remember the movie titles now...Condor Strike or Operation Condor or something like that was one of them.  I think it was actually one of the ones he made in China that was dubbed.  Anyway, during some of those interviews he was talking about all the injuries he'd had.  I think I saw footage from one movie when something went wrong and he broke something..maybe a leg.  I can't remember now.

With all the injuries he's had, it's amazing he hasn't been hurt more seriously and ended up paralyzed or something.

I believe Operation Condor exists and another one was called First Strike (owned the laserdisc). They were both Hong Kong films, but IIRC both played in other countries.

It wasn't for lack of trying, that's for sure. I believe the worst injury he had was a fractured skull which nearly killed him.

First Strike sounds familiar too.
I don't remember hearing about the fractured skull.

That's Armour of God, when he fell out of a tree. He still finished the film though. From Wikipedia:

Quote
During filming, one scene called for him to jump from a wall to a tree branch. The first take went perfectly, but Chan wasn't satisfied and had wanted to do the scene again. On his second jump, the branch broke and he fell 150 feet to the ground below. His head hit a rock, cracking his skull and shooting a piece of bone up into his brain. Chan was flown to the hospital and was in surgery 8 hours later. As a result, he now has a permanent hole in his head, filled by a plastic plug, and slight hearing loss in one ear. Chan took a month to recuperate and toured across Europe. During this time, producer Raymond Chow allowed Chan to let his hair grow, which explains the continuity problem of his short hair at the beginning of the film, and his longer hair from the point of the tree stunt onwards.

YouTuber's are quick aren't they?  :training: Here's the interview... (breakages at 8:15)

I'm not trying to be an ass here, but could you guys please start a separate thread for Jackie Chan. I keep thinking someone is talking about silent films when I see a new posting.  ;)

I've split the topic (though I notice i missed 2 posts about Jackie Chan in the previous topic - but at that point, they were still somewhat related to the silent film topic)

Thanks for saving me from having to do this. Let's go post some content in that thread and get it back on its feet!
