And what Andy did was really nice..but still is so sad to me. I didn't see that happening at all. I thought maybe there would be ...hmm...like maybe a montage set to a song showing Andy graduating..getting married..having children. Then he'd go get the toys out of the attic and give them to his kids. What happened does work and is very sweet in its own way. But still. I want Andy to keep them. (click to show/hide)From what I read Lee Unkrich said, that they did want to close the series with this film. I guess that point is made stronger if the toys are removed from Andy, as he was an integral part of the whole proceedings, the motor behind Woody's motivation. Had they toys stayed with him the feeling of closure wouldn't have been there. On the good side, apparently next year's short film to be shown in front of Cars 2 will feature the toys again (click to show/hide)That is true too...I'm thinking there still would have been some closure if the toys had stayed with Andy in some way...or passed on to his kids. Maybe not as much, but still something. And Bonnie is a sweet little girl who has the same type of imagination that Andy had as a child..so she will have all sorts of fun with them. But..well. I still don't like that Andy doesn't have them. I know it works for the story and all. I just would have liked it better. That's me being a big emotional wimp I guess. lol I did read that about the characters being in shorts. That could be really cool. I'm thinking that maybe it will be something like the first several mintues of the movie...a version of some adventure Bonnie comes up with for the toys. Her other toys seemed like cute characters too even though they weren't in much. (click to show/hide)Well, sure, staying with Andy would have been what the toys wanted, on the one hand On the other hand they purpose in life is "to be played with" and I think that is what Andy also understood. The moment they showed Bonnie play with Woody it became clear to me that she would have the toys in the end.Darn, I am welling up now, thinking about how Woody changed boxes, so he could stay with his friends. Awesome.

I was thinking about stuff I wanted to put in a review..just got to thinking about that ending and it set me off again.

I kept saying to myself: "think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts,..."Almost like:"To avoid faintcrying, keep repeating "It's only a movie...It's only a movie..."
HatedRandy Newman: Some people love Randy Newman. They find his music charming and quirky; his voice warm and cuddly. Others find his music unintentionally goofy and think his voice sounds like someone singing while trying to keep from throwing up at the same time. I am firmly in the latter camp. See for yourself! Try to simulate how your throat constricts when you're about to lose your lunch. Now sing. Oh my god it's Randy Newman! I enjoy disliking his music so much that this is nearly a positive.
(click to show/hide)That was really good. Though I loved all the Spanish Buzz stuff...so funny.Oh..I remembered something else I was going to mention before. It sort of ties in to you saying you told yourself to think happy thoughts and that it was only a movie. When they were in that huge incinerator thing at the dump. At first I figured they would get out or something. Then, when they all stopped trying to climb out and held hands, facing the fire....I about lost it. I was thinking no no no no no..this can't happen. I was also thinking this is a movie - a Pixar movie - and they won't do this..but I was still freaking out internally. I mean I was almost certain they wouldn't get burned up, but I was still freaked at just the thought of it. I don't think I've ever been so relieved as I was when the claw got them out.
Just read the review at kotaku.com. The only negative aspect they found was this and I thought I share the funny description:QuoteHatedRandy Newman: Some people love Randy Newman. (click to show/hide)The best was the Spanish reprisal of the original song from the first movie, incidentally not sung by Newman himself.

(click to show/hide)Well, I did say they made me cry twice, didn't I. That scene in the incinerator was the first time, when Buzz stopped struggling and "reached out" to Jessie. Again, amazing how they did that, because you are right, there was no way in hell Pixar would have them all die right there. Sorry Sophie, I hope you can watch it soon and join our discussion here. I am sure Jon will chime in too once he had a chance to see it.the spill.com review. Pretty spoiler free, but better watch it after the film. just to be safe.
