OK, here's the final commentary by the narrator...
The Martians had no resistance to the
bacteria
in our atmosphere to which we have long since become immune. Once they had breathed our air,
germs
, which no longer affect us, began to kill them. The end came swiftly. All over the world, their machines began to stop and fall. After all that men could do had failed, the Martians were destroyed and humanity was saved by the littlest things, which God, in His wisdom, had put upon this Earth.
I've highlighted the only mentioning of what killed the Martians. Now while the common cold is caused by germs, Jon you specifically mention it by name, which the commentator doesn't. For all we know, the martians could be killed by typhus or diphtheria bacteria.
Therefore, I'm accepting Critter's basic answer of germs. Point to Critter.
You know, after watching that little snippet from the film, I may take a break and watch the film.

Just kidding.

I got the point, I don't believe it, I had to read it three times to be sure.
Antares, how quickly would you be able to throw an animated film question out? I have to go to sleep soon and last time I went to bed I missed animation questions!

Monsters, Inc is the name of the company.
Isn't it?
Oh great now I am questioning myself.
EDIT: If that is right then more animation.
EDIT, EDIT: No, I am not talking to myself, Antares did in fact delete his post after asking what the name of the compant in Monsters Inc was. See my method, I confused him into asking a question so simple it was deleted, yet I still got a point

Actually, I wasn't paying attention to what I was typing, because I wanted to get a question out so fast. Stupid me, the answer was so obvious.
This is the question I meant...
What is the name of the city that Mike and Sully live in?
I'm still going to give you a point for your answer Sophie.
Pick the next genre.

Et tu Brutus?
"Brute", not "Brutus" in that sentence structure.

I've never seen Yellow Submarine but I have heard of "The Blue Meanies" so could that be the answer?
