If my tags are correct, I own 68 bollywood movies. Some of them are really bad (s*** happens), but most of them are very nice!

I just noticed, that I also have exactly 68 Bollywood movies

My first one was the German release of "Dil Se" with only Hindi as audio track. This movie was a kind of starter drug!  ;D

So you can confirm that this release has a Hindi audio track? :)
Amazon does list only German, but as it is REM I couldn't believe this listing, so I put it on my wishlist anyway (and I think I also had found evidence to an Hindi track somewhere else). I really want to check this movie out at some point, because it is Preity Zinta's first role.

No, I was referring to THIS release.

Dil Se - Von ganzem Herzen

I was not aware, that there's another one!  :-[

Thanks!
According to the Amazon customer reviews, the one I linked really is only in German. I have ordered now the one you linked :)

I know of only one Bollywood Blu-ray release and I have it. It is Saawariya.

Have you seen this pre-release at amazon UK Jodhaa Akbar. Due out 14th June in Blu for £13.99 atm.

Strange: The UK Blu-ray lists a running time of 160 min. The German DVD lists 205 min, which according to IMDb is the actual length.

There also seems to be a German Blu-ray released in December
http://www.amazon.de/Jodhaa-Akbar-Blu-ray-Aishwarya-Rai/dp/B002NL545K/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1275659929&sr=8-4
It lists 214 min (DVD probably has PAL speedup).

Maybe an error. This site indicates 212 min.

*sigh*, I was not aware of a current blu-ray release. Now I have to decide if I start upgrading my bollywood films from dvd to blu-ray!  :headscratch:  :-\

I've seen this film about 1 year ago. If memory serves me right, I really enjoyed this movie (especially because Aishwarya Rai is one of the actors!  ;) )

This won't be the first time that UK purchasers have been short-changed. The Warlords was another title where the UK got the international release of 108mins whilst Germany had the director's cut at 126mins and there have been others  :(

My Thoughts:
I never had the urge to check this movie out. But when the Blu-ray was on sale, I thought I should give it a try. It was never the length of the movie which put me off (after all an average Bollywood movie has a three-hours running time).
I think I will get some flack for this, but this movie bored me. I had to take a break half-way through and watched two other three-hour movies before I continued. I just couldn't connect with the characters and the plot just didn't reel me in. Scarlett is supposed to be an unlikable character (at least I think she is meant to be), but it isn't fun watching one of those for four hours.

Tom, your comment about flak suggests you think this is one of those classic films that everyone loves? The sort of film to be included with The Godfather or Casablanca or Lawrence of Arabia as genuine classics you might not have seen?

It really isn't. It's a producers film, not an artists, and Selznick at the time was all about making the biggest epics possible. While it has a good story and is very grand, it also has no grace and muscles its way around. Well it does to me anyway! It was the Titanic of its day basically.

So no flak from me. I don't really like melodramas at the best of times.
