I hope this casting is bull. That just can't work. They're great actors, but Dean Martin was born with style; no amount of method acting is going to capture that swing.

Dammit, even his current fave Leo would be a better choice.

I'm surprised Joe Piscopo isn't stalking Scorcese.  :hysterical:

But he was a good actor years ago, of course he play mostly himself since at last 10 years

But to be honest there is most chance (even if they are really low) that I watch that with him than if they choose Tobey Maguire, George Clooney or Brad Pitt.

It isn't that I don't think they can act.  I just don't think they are right for those particular parts.

It's not only about looks, but also about acting.

Maybe the picture that goers with that article was not a good choice to begin with.

I agree.  They can do miracles with makeup.  Although, depending on what period of his life they are planning to cover, it seems like Pacino (age 70) is a little old for the role.

Casting is a key to this movie. You can't take two iconic figures and get them "close". They have to be dead on. Unless of course the movie is aimed at 16-25 year olds who wont even really know what Sinatra or Martin are.

I think Johnny Depp could pull off Dean Martin, not Sinatra though. The only actor that comes to mind that might pull off Sinatra is Harry Connick Jr., who would obviously have no trouble with any musical numbers.

A bit OT but did anyone here see the movie "Beyond the Sea"? Kevin Spacey did an incredible job of portraying  Bobby Darin. I had no idea he could sing that well either.

Agreed on this.

Connick was surprisingly good in Copycat, so I think he could have the acting chops to do it, to.
