My Thoughts:
Hrithik Roshan did a great job playing a paralized man. Usually he is a very physical actor. The story is very emotional with his wish to seek to get euthanasia approved from the court.
This movie is directed by the same man as "Black", another great movie.

Desperate to grant him three wishes and to seek the end of his contract with the magic lamp, the rock-star Genius makes Aladin's life difficult until the real threat looms on the horizon - the ex-genie, Ringmaster (Sanjay Dutt). Aladin, Jasmine and Genius work together to defeat Ring Master.

My Thoughts:
I enjoyed it more than I expected. I bought this when I saw that Amitabh Bachcan is playing the Genie.
The movie is about a boy named Aladin, who was growing up being teased about his name. But one day he really finds a lamb with a Genie. The special effects were surprisingly well done. I expected them to be cheaper.

Tom - if you enjoyed Guzaarish you will like The Sea Inside which deals with the same topic.

It is based on a true story and I believe it won the Academy Award for best foreign film.

I haven't seen Guzaarish yet but I am going to buy it.

Since I am caring for a quadreplegic, these issues are particularly poignant.

Directed by Stephen Frears (The Queen), starring a host of great British talent including Gemma Arterton, Dominic Cooper, Roger Allam and Tamsin Greig and based on Posey Simmond's much loved graphic novel, The Daily Mail calls Tamara Drewe "a treat of a film that will delight and excite".

Extras:

My Thoughts:
What a boring movie. I just couldn't stay focused on it. I popped it in, after I just couldn't make up my mind what to watch and I crabbed the first thing on my unwatched pile which wasn't a series.
The main problem probably was, that I expected a different kind of movie.

My Thoughts:
Growing up, Tim Burton's Batman had shown me for the first time the more serious Batman. Before this I only knew the 60s Batman (which I loved to watch).
Michael Keaton doesn't seem like the obvious choice to play Batman, but he did a great job. Though I still think he doesn't have the physique to really be believable as a tough Batman. But he got the mannerism down.
Jack Nicholson as the Joker was for a long time the definitive Joker until Heath Ledger came along. But I think we should not forget Nicholson's portrayal of him.
I still can't believe how fast Alfred decided to "rat" Bruce Wayne's secret out to Vicki Vale.
This disc is part of the Blu-ray collection of the first four films. It is a double-dip for me. I owned it previously on DVD. I hesitated for awhile, because I was not sure if it was worth it. But I got the set for £9.99 which made the choice easy. Also my old set was a bare bones release. In this Blu-ray set, all four movies have a lot of bonus material.

I believe this was so a problem to fans at first, seeing how Keaton came off Mr. Mom and Beetlejuice

Had Buton made this later we maybe had Johnny Depp as Batman :hysterical:

£9.99 seems a great price for to good films with lots of bonus features? Is the set region free? Is that deal still available?

The set is still available on amazon.co.uk, but the price varies. Currently it is £15. £9.99 was the lowest I ever saw it. I think it was a Black Friday offer.
According to Amazon, Profiler and Profiler contribution notes, this set is region free. The cover doesn't say anything.

Thanks. Even at £15 this is a sweet deal. I'll put it on my Amazon Wishlist and see if the price goes own again...

Current cheapest price is 14.95 at www.zavvi.co.uk. I use them a lot and every week they have a Mega-Monday 24hr sale where prices like this are not unusual. They and Play have really ramped up the offers in the run up to Christmas, with Daily Deals. It's worth subscribing to the newsletters on both.

I just got the X-Men Quadrilogy (Blu) from Zavvi for 9.99.

Can Batman (Michael Keaton) battle two formidable foes at once? Especially when one wants to be mayor and the other is romantically attracted to Bruce Wayne? Like the ground breaking 1989 original, Batman Returns is directed by the wizardly Tim Burton. And like the first blockbuster, it's a dazzling adventure that leaves you breathless.

My Thoughts:
Batman Returns is a good movie, but I don't like it as much as the first one. Burton's style was there way too much. Danny DeVito was good, but I think that the focus is way too much on Penguin instead of Batman. I also really enjoyed Catwoman.
This movie feels too much like a Tim Burton movie instead like a Batman movie.

My Thoughts:
I only ever played the first Tomb Raider came for a few minutes. Never saw the others. I think they captured the video game world fairly well. Lara Croft seems like she just jumped out of a video game. If you want an over-the-top brainless action movie, this one isn't so bad. I enjoyed it.

My Thoughts:
I know that I am not in the majority here, but I like this movie. It is not as good as the first one, but it is more fun. It's my favorite of the old Batman movies. It is a good balance between dark and serious and campy fun. Refreshing after the second movie which took itself too seriously.
Although I don't like Val Kilmer's Bruce Wayne. But he did a good job as Batman.

My Thoughts:
I treaded watching it, but I had to finish off my new Batman boxset. If you do not consider this movie part of the previous Batman movies, but as a movie version of the old Batman series from the 60s, you may find some enjoyment in it.
The acting is bad, especially by Uma Thurman. George Clooney is an okay Batman, but all the brooding is gone from Bruce Wayne. This is not a Dark Knight.
The use of Batgirl feels forced in. Nothing against Alicia Silverstone, but she didn't fit here.
There are also some little things which bother me. Like why is the new Batmobile with an open driver's seat, when Batman would have been killed in all the previous movies, if it were for the protected drivers seat? Further proof that it takes the old TV series as a guideline.
