Opinions on Some Series
« on: May 20, 2010, 03:17:36 AM »
I am looking at some of the cheaper complete series sets at Amazon. These are some TV Series that sounds interesting to me... but was wondering if anyone here knows them and if you would recommend them or not.

Never seen a single episode of the above.... Roger... you are the western expert here.  or

Never seen an episode... but I believe I seen it mentioned here before?

I Never heard of this one... but the write-up sounds like it could be interesting

A failed series from a year or two ago that I never got the chance to see while on.

Never seen it... but this one definitely sounds interesting....

After having a near-death experience, ex-cop-turned-private-eye Frank Taylor learns that he has the ability to see and communicate with restless ghosts of murdered people who ask for his help in solving their deaths.

another series I never got to see when it originally aired.

I think I seen this series years ago... but I really don't remember it.

So... any thoughts on the above. Some good suggestions may make it to Britt's ears for Father's Day!  ;)  :P

I saw some of My Own Worst Enemy.  It was interesting.  I think I saw Blue Thunder, though I can't remember for sure.  Haunted does sound really interesting.

I bought all 3 Wanted: Dead or Alive sets when they first came out but have only seen a couple of episodes so far.  I would recommend it.  It's a very entertaining show, fast-paced (which it needed to be since it was a half-hour show) and has many familiar faces as guest-stars.  It's in black and white but I remember they also included colorized versions of a couple episodes.

I own "Voyager!", but I haven't watched it yet. Never seen anything from the others.

I believe I've seen some episodes of Voyagers! but I can barely remember their faces. I've also seen some episodes of Blue Thunder but not enough to make a qualified assessment.

Don't know the rest, sorry. :(

My Own Worst Enemy (as far as I am concerned) is another show to add to the "WTF are you thinking, cancelling this so soon?" list.

I'm not saying that potentially wouldn't have worn out it's welcome, but could definately have done 2maybe 3 seasons.

I am more familiar with the Rutger Hauer 80's film, than with the Steve McQueen series.

Here is a little preview of Haunted I fount on Youtube...

Here is the Voyagers! intro... I must say this one looks a little iffy to me. I don't care too much for the way it looks like they are flying when traveling through time. I know... minor thing... right? Maybe.

Promo Trailer for My Own Worst Enemy...

There was a bit of a gimmick in Wanted: Dead or Alive.  Instead of a regular six-gun pistol, the Steve McQueen character strapped on a sawed-off shotgun.  Guess he didn't have to do much aiming then...kind of like Mississippi (James Caan) in El Dorado  :tease:

I once shot a sawed-off double barreled when I was young (early teens)... knocked me on my ass!  :bag:

Weirdly, the film is an unofficial pseudo-sequel. I seem to remember Hauer making a reference to his "granddad"

You remember correctly.

I'm tempted to try and dig out my vhs copy, I'm fairly sure I've still got it tucked away in a draw somewhere.

I've seen about half of the Voyagers episodes. Reminds me quite a bit of Time Tunnel. Ok, but nothing spectacular.
I own season 1 of Wanted Dead or Alive. Have watched of few episodes. If it wasn't for Steve McQueen it would be just another ok western, but he raises it up a notch. If you're a McQueen fan you owe it to yourself to see at least one season of this show, since this is where he honed his craft and became the great actor that he was.
