That depends, is your 40GB one too small for you and do you need more space in the hardrive? If so then it sounds like a good idea.

Not too sure. System Info reports for disc capacity 7449MB/37GB - does this mean I have used only 7GB or does it mean I have 7GB left?

But the idea of a nice new console does tempt me.

Cheers, I shall cogitate upon the wisdom or not of swapping out my machine.

I'm not into the band hero games. I'm into the killing Nazi games.

And also Uncharted, Arkham Asylum and Red Dead Redemption.

Looks like cogitation is over. Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs have written to me saying that I have overpaid Income Tax for the year 2009-2010 and that payment is on its way, woo hoo. So cost of new console is covered.

My local Tesco's has the 320GB slim PS3 plus GT5 for £269.00. Do I donate my old 40GB fat PS3 to someone and get this?

OK may now go to amazon UK as the price is the same but you get a free HDMI cable, a free pair of trigger covers for the controller and for £10.00 extra a choice of one of these games Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, Fallout: New Vegas, Medal of Honor, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows - Part 1, The Sims 3 or an EX-02s Bluetooth Headset: Special Ops - Limited Edition.

Okay so I haven't really been playing my PS3 much lately, apart form the short PSN game Flower. So last night I picked up Uncharted 2 for the first time in ages and played multiplayer for about an hour which was pretty fun, even though I'm terrible at it. I then proceeded to head back into single player where I am now determined to beat the game on both hard and crushing  :training:.

Dave, if your fat PS3 is fine and all you'd need is more space, you can just replace the hard drive! ;) I had replaced mine from 40GB to 320GB and when I switched to a slim (had to, my fat ad broken down) I took it with me.

Enjoy Crushing, Sophie

I played it on hard, it gets pretty intense.
