Received from Amazon.ca this morning

A Canadian "terror in the wood" theme film (hope that DVDP will select it for my marathon)

It's not often that I bought music CD (in fact my first in 2 years), but I've fall in love with her music this summer.

Not that I am that surprise since it's British

In the beginning untill we have realize that he does only 2 songs... The slow romantic one and the rock one (less and less with this one). But Reckless is one of the best Canadian album with Get Lucky from Loverboy.

I don't know Get Lucky but will agree that Reckless is a great album. Never cared much about Adams after that one...

My favorite Adams song must be "Don't Leave Me Lonely" from a previous album though.

Woohoo! Payday is here! and I just made a Huge Horrific Order!  :yahoo:

House by the Cemetery ($1.91)
The Boyle family moves temporarily into an old mansion near Boston so that the father can do some needed research.  The new tenants, unbeknownst to them, have a terrible secret living in their basement.  A certain Dr. Freudstein has been housed below since 1879 and has kept himself alive by murdering inhabitants of the mansion and using their cells to keep his body going.  Gore, horror and great special effects makes a visit to the House By The Cemetery A KILLING STAY.

OK... I had to consider this one... I have heard both good things and bad things about it. But for only $1.91 I decided to take a chance. Hopefully I won't be disappointed.

Seven Doors of Death ($1.91)
Seven Doors Of Death is a film that will horrify, sicken and terrify those who dare to watch this tale. Set in Louisiana the movie opens in 1927 with a Satanic disciple being crucified and melted alive with quicklime in the basement of an old hotel. Fifty years later, Lisa (Kathrene MacColl) inherits the hotel, not suspecting that it is one of the seven gateways to Hell. Horrible events begin to happen in the possessed hotel, such as a workman breaking his neck, another has his eyeballs gouged out by a zombie, a woman's head is melted by a vat of acid and an architect has his face eaten by hungry tarantulas. Not a hotel to stay for the weekend! Great special effects highlights this not to be seen alone movie!

This one is a complete blind buy... but figured for the price I had to go for it!

Embryo/Legacy of Blood: DVD Cult Classics ($2.10)
Embryo
Rock Hudson stars in this science fiction story of an experiment gone very wrong. He plays a scientist who decides to create a human from basic genetic material. The result is lovely Barbara Carrera (the sexy villainess of 'Never Say Never Again') in the role of the creature grown from an embryo. Although beautiful, she displays not only her physical charms but aberrant and definitely homicidal behavior. As she becomes more erratic, the enamored doctor is faced with perhaps destroying his own creation. Roddy McDowall and Diane Ladd also star in this unusual tale mixing sex with science.

Legacy of Blood
When their father dies, three greedy sisters and their husbands reunite to hear the reading of the will. His fortune is theirs...assuming, of course, they're able to survive a weekend at the family mansion. One by one, the unsavory characters find themselves the targets of an unknown killer who has plans of their own for the family fortune.

Another one I heard absolutely nothing about... neither movie that is. But when you get 2 movies for only $2.10 you tend to take chances.

Duel: Collector's Edition ($9.46)
Before spinning cinematic gold from sharks, dinosaurs and homesick aliens, a young Steven Spielberg directed this high-velocity thriller about an innocent motorist terrorized by an evil truck. Spielberg's first full-length movie, Duel helped jumpstart the director's big-screen career, with a gripping, action-packed story hailed by critics as a film that "...belongs on the classics shelf reserved for top suspensers"(Daily Variety). Dennis Weaver stars as the traveling salesman waging a desperate battle for survival after he is mysteriously singled out for destruction. Praised for its deft use of relentlessly mounting psychological tension, Duel features one of the most uniquely terrifying "characters" in movie history: a massive, roaring 40-ton truck with more sheer menace than most flesh-and-blood villains. But Steven Spielberg was, literally, just getting started. A few years later, the action of Spielberg's blockbuster hit Jaws would echo Duel's tale of a lone hero in a heart-stopping fight to the finish against a monstrous, inhuman foe.

I never seen this one... but was recommended to me by more then one person. So I said I would give it a try.

The Substitute ($8.49)
A small-town sixth-grade class gets a new substitute teacher who wants to train them for a mysterious international competition in Paris. But something isn't right. How is she able to read their minds? Why is she so mean? And how does she so cleverly manipulate all of their parents into believing how great she is when it's obvious to the whole class that she's a nightmare come true? As the story unfolds, we find that there's a reason she seems to be from another planet...

This is one of the Ghost House Underground releases... I have enjoyed most of what I seen from this series so far... and this one sounded interesting... so thought I would give it a go.

The Broken: After Dark Horrorfest III ($9.27)
A successful radiologist (Lena Headey) watches her life spiral out of control after she sees the spitting image of herself driving down a London street. Attempting to discover the identity of her double, she stumbles onto a terrifying mystery that involves her family and closest friends, leaving her with no one to trust.

I never even seen the trailer for this one... but had a couple people tell me it was really good so giving it a chance.

Autopsy: After Dark Horrorfest III ($9.27)
A group of recent college grads is taking a final vacation together when an accident leaves them hurt and stranded on a lonely Louisiana road. An ambulance arrives and takes them to Mercy Hospital, an eerie , half-empty place that harbors a chilling secret: a doctor conducting inhuman experiments on its helpless patients.

Basically... the trailer looked good so I grabbed it.

Fear Itself: The Complete First Season: Collector's Edition Four-Disc Set ($21.18)
Terror has a new name: "Fear Itself"!  A 13-episode suspence and horror anthology series, "Fear Itself" takes horror to shocking new heights with its mix of mind-bending stories, spine-tingling chills, and top Hollywood talent including acclaimed directors John Landis (An American Werewolf in London), Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV) and Ronnie Yu (Bride of Chucky); actors Brandon Routh (Superman Returns), Shiri Appleby (Charlie Wilson's War), Elizabeth Moss ("Mad Men"), Cynthia Watros ("Lost"), Eric Roberts ("Heroes") and John Billingsley ("Star Trek: Enterprise"); and writers Joe Gangemi (Wind Chill, the novel "Inamorata"), Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) and Dan Knauf ("Carnivale," "Supernatural").

I got to see some of the episodes of this series when it aired. Basically the show was a bit hit & miss.. but there was enough episodes I did see... and enough episodes I never seen to make me want to add it to my collection. Though if it was much more then the price it is I would have probably let it slip by.

The Haunting in Connecticut ($21.49)
Based on a chilling true story, Lionsgate's THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT charts one family's terrifying, real-life encounter with the dark forces of the supernatural. When the Campbell family moves to upstate Connecticut, they soon learn that their charming Victorian home has a disturbing history: not only was the house a transformed funeral parlor where inconceivable acts occurred, but the owner's clairvoyant son Jonah served as a demonic messenger, providing a gateway for spiritual entities to crossover.

Now unspeakable terror awaits, when Jonah, the boy who communicated with the powerful dark forces of the supernatural, returns to unleash a new kind of horror on the innocent and unsuspecting family.

This is one movie I been waiting to see. So much so that I couldn't wait for it to go down in price. Which is something I don't normally do. Hopefully I won't be sorry!

Pumpkinhead: Ashes To Ashes ($6.89)
It's been two decades since the late Ed Harley (Lance Henriksen, 'Alien vs. Predator') last conjured up the demonic avenger known as Pumpkinhead. So when the citizens of a small southern village discover the town's physician (Doug Bradley, 'Hellraiser') has been selling their loved ones' organs and dumping the bodies in a swamp, they ask the old witch, Haggis, to invoke the demon's wrath and avenge their desecrated kin. Summoned from the mummified remains of Ed Harley himself, the creature proceeds to wreak havoc upon any and all who get in its way. After twenty years in limbo, Pumpkinhead has finally returned to settle the score.

This is the last movie in the Pumpkinhead series that I needed... so wanted to finish up the collection.

Prom Night: Unrated Version ($6.89)
Three years ago, Donna (Brittany Snow, 'John Tucker Must Die') watched in horror as an obsessed predator (Johnathon Schaech, 'That Thing You Do!') murdered her family. Tonight is her senior prom and although she's anxious about the past, she's excited to celebrate her future with her friends. What Donna doesn't know is that the deranged psychopath has escaped from the asylum. He's returned to hunt her down, intent on killing anyone who gets in his way. As the night races towards its heart-pounding conclusion, the question becomes not who will be prom queen, but who will survive the killer's rampage.

This one is more of an impulse buy for me. I haven't really heard much good things about this remake. But hey... there has been some remakes I have liked... so I wanted to give it a try.

The Val Lewton Horror Collection ($45.68)
Cat People/Curse Of The Cat People

Does she suffer the hex of the cat? The Shocker that started it all! The curse may be back...and so is the psychological terror.

I Walked With A Zombie/The Body Snatcher

Beware the power of voodoo and its living dead. Boris Karloff plays the title role in the Robert Louis Stevenson chiller. Dont miss the Karloff Bela Lugosi scene!

The Leopard Man/The Ghost Ship

Is it man or beast behind a string of savage maulings? A sinister captain sets a course for madness. All Aboard!

Isle Of The Dead/Bedlam

A Karloff double feature starts with the tale of a plague/spirit infested island. Insanity gives way to murder as Karloff rules Bedlam

The Seventh Victim/ Martin Scorsese Presents: Val Lewton - Shadows In The Dark

Six dead...will there be a seventh? A devil cult brings terror to New York City. See how Lewton redefined horror in this insightful profile.

Martin Scorsese Presents: Wal Lewton: The Man In The Shadows

From one of todays greatest moviemakers comes a probing portrait of one of classic hollywood's most unique and daring producers of screen suspense and horror.

This is a classic horror boxset that was recommended by a friend. This particular set is a re-release of the set with 1 additional disc. I am looking forward to exploring these classic horrors!

Bloody Birthday ($3.82)
In 1970, three children were born during the height of a total eclipse of Saturn, the planet governing emotion. Ten years later these seemingly innocent children have become heartless killers able to move around under the radar of suspicion because of their youthful facades. What happens when a teenage girl and her younger brother stumble upon the horrible truth?

My fingers are crossed with this one. I remember a movie I watched when I was a teen that sounds similar to this... I am hoping it is this one as I remember enjoying it.

Visitors of the Night ($6.99)
Judith (Markie Post. 'There's Something About Mary') notices some very creepy things are happening around town. She and the town's sheriff make a chilling discovery, the town's teens are disappearing. When they recover they are suffering from amnesia. Judith is even more troubled when her daughter, Katie (Candace Cameron, 'Full House'), is missing. When she returns and begins acting strangely, it becomes evident alien powers have taken over the town. Judith must stand up to her fears and rid the town of the aliens that have come to claim her daughter.

This is a TV Movie with Markie Post (Night Court) and Candace Cameron (Full House). I have found I enjoy TV Movies... and enjoy them even more when familiar faces from TV Series I watch is in them... so decided to give this one a chance.

The Uninvited ($15.99)
From the producers of The Ring and Disturbia  comes a nail-biting thriller, THE UNINVITED. Following the suspicious death of their mother, sisters Anna and Alex become entangled in a deadly battle of wills when their father becomes engaged to Rachel, their mother's former caretaker. As the two sisters investigate Rachel's questionable past, they are confronted with ghostly visions, terrifying nightmares and deadly consequences. All leading to an ending so shocking it "will send chills down your spine!"

Basically the trailer looked interesting so thought I would give it a chance.

The Orphanage ($5.79)
Award-winning visionary Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy) and acclaimed director J.A. Bayona present a "positively terrifying" (John Anderson, Newsday) new vision of the classic ghost story.

Returning to her childhood home – a mysterious, seaside orphanage – Laura and her family unknowingly unleash a long-forgotten, evil spirit. Now thrust into a chilling nightmare, Laura must confront the memories of her past before the ghosts of the orphanage destroy her... and everything she has ever loved.

This is another one that was recommended to me. This one is a foreign horror... so no English Audio on it... will have to watch it with subtitles. The story sounds good so I am looking forward to it.

Blood Reaper ($3.19)
Five friends come face to face with the deadliest legend when they pitch camp on the grave of one of the most gruesome serial killers. One by one, they race against evil, clawing for their lives. But the killer is determined to take revenge – and turn the river red.

Basically just another impulse buy. I figured for the price I could chance it.

Black Christmas: Special Edition ($9.53)
The college town of Bedford is receiving an unwelcome guest this Christmas. As the residents of sorority house Pi Kappa Sig prepare for the festive season, a demonic stranger begins to stalk the house.

A series of grisly obscene phone-calls start to plague the residents of the sorority and soon they will each meet their fate at the hands of the psychotic intruder.

As the Police try to trace the phone calls, they discover that nothing is as it seems during this BLACK CHRISTMAS.

Starring Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder, Andrea Martin and John Saxon. Bob Clark's 'Black Christmas' predates 'Halloween' by 4 years and is now widely acknowledged as the inventor of the modern slasher film.

This is one that I have been wanting to see for some time now. I have heard some great things about it. I can't wait to finally see it!

Well... that is what I finally decided on for my Horror/Halloween order. Any thoughts?
Pete

While taking my mother to the doctor's office I stopped by Walmart... both completely blind buys. Both were $7.50 in their Halloween display.

Laid to Rest: Unrated Director's Cut
Bobbi Sue Luther (Night of the Demons 09), Kevin Gage (HEAT), Lena Headey (300,THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES), Johnathon Schaech (QUARANTINE) and Thomas Dekker (THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES) star in the slasher shocker that takes the 'killer-in-a-mask' movie and rips it a whole new future: A young woman (Luther) wakes up inside a locked casket with no memory of who she is or how she got there. But once she escapes, The Girl will quickly learn that she – and everyone she comes in contact with – is being pursued by ChromeSkull, an unstoppable maniac armed with a metal skull mask, a shoulder-mounted video camera, and a ferocious appetite for slaugher. Sean Whalen (MEN IN BLACK), Lucas Till (HANNAH MONTANA: THE MOVIE) and Richard Lynch (ROB ZOMBIE'S HALLOWEEN) co-star in this unflinching vision of graphic carnage from writer/director/FX master Robert Hall, featuring music by Suicidal Tendencies.

Never even heard of this one... but the overview sounded interesting. And it has Lena Headey in it... so figured I would give it a shot.

Shutter: Unrated
'Prepare yourself' for bone-chilling terror and suspence with this Unrated Edition of 'Shutter'—packed with shocking uncut footage you couldn't see in theaters and a twisted alternate ending you must see to believe!

Soon after New York newlyweds Ben (Joshua Jackson) and Jane (Rachael Taylor) arrive in Japan for Ben's latest photography assignment, they discover disturbing, ghostly reflections of a young woman in their own photos. This inexplicable "spirit image" may be connected to Ben's past, and she's determined to provide the couple with a horrifying future of relentless vengeance from which there is no escape!

This one I at least heard some good things about... though I don't even remember see a trailer for it. It sounds good from the overview at least.

Any thoughts on these?
Pete

Does her others one are as good Jon?

I've always liked her. Her lyrics are hilarious and she has a wonderful temperament on stage. Interviews well too, with a really nice wit. Not surprising though, given her background; her dad is Keith Allen (Sheriff in the latest Robin Hood and the quickly-deceased lodger in Shallow Grave) and her step-dad is Harry Enfield of all people! She's only done two albums though. "Alright, Still" was the one before this. I'm not sure she's 100% musically-inclined though. She did a decent, but unusual chat show called "Lily Allen and Friends" on TV.

By the way, I didn't assume French-Canadians liked Celine Dion; I assumed they were forced to listen to her by the Government... :P

@Pete, blimey that is a big order! Really glad you've picked up at least three I remember recommending...
